| Got any advice for what to do when you run bad. I may or may not be tilty. Seems like the past week everyone has drawn out on me. During a series of HUSNGs a guy even commented on how sick it was that he had drawn out on me so many times. I'm just very angry right now. I feel like the game is cheating me. Which I know isn't likely. Angry and depressed. Angry and depressed. Definitely stepping away. |

I personally have stepped away from FTP and have been playing on ohter sites for the time being.... I get mad just looking at the FTP logo right now... Because of the really bad suckouts... Not to mention That logo puts me on tilt now.
I just cant seem to win a match at the $10 levels on FTP and it is making me sick.
sooo... I have 4 other accounts funded and am reaching for the stars on those accounts.... another long struggle... to get up to the $10.... however... It's making me feel better because... at least I can win a race on the other sites... lol
good luck... |

| Something that helps me when I'm tilting is temporarily moving down a few levels. It doesn't have to be long, just until you regain your confidence. People tend to chase more draws and make spewy bluffs while on tilt so do it at a low stake, and smile when you're the one sucking out. Switching poker rooms while doing this also helps you forget the bad beats. |

After reading your post there is no doubt in my mind that you are
Try if you can get a hold on to the following:
Eightfold Path to Poker Enlightenment
By Tommy Angelo
It's like an "audio book", made for DeucesCracked.com, and probably the best I ever found on tilt control.... (it discusses much more though) |

right today i think is a great example of how to turn round running bad
After trying to find a free copy of Eightfold Path to Poker Enlightenment (i couldnt), but i did find out what its all about.
Basically understanding yourself and how you react, and when it comes to tilt figuring out what leads you to tilt and how to stop it.
Well this week i have been experimenting with being tilted, every time i ran bad i tried something different.
This is what worked for me
Having a nap then having a shower, the reason this works so well (i think) is because when your awake your brain is like a giant email inbox, and its recieving loads of information all day long most of it useless. When your brain inbox is full it stops receiving any more info and makes it harder to focus because its all clogged up with stuff.
So having a nap for about 40 mins to 1 hour, will let your brain sort through all the crap its got hovering around and refresh itself.
Then when you wake up with a clear mind, have a shower and your wide awake again and ready for action and completly focused.
Today for example i was 7 buy ins down at HU it was sick the 1st 3 games i played badly admittedly the last 4 well 3 were bad beats horrible ones 80%+ vs 20% ones. After the last one i decided enough was enough, and had a nap and then a shower.
Then i started poker up again and was so focussed i could feel it throughout my body, and i went on to win 7 out of 9 games (1 bad beat and lost the last game due to being distracted)
So try it |

Sounds like a good solution if you are on tilt indeed. However not easy to do while you are sitting at the table still playing your game
Getting on (major) tilt usualy is a sequence of small things that are not going your way.
Every time something small (or big) goes wrong, try this:
http://www.tommyangelo.com/blog/2009/01/29/try-it-youll-like-it/
And do read between the lines. Its not about the fingers The finger just help you to pay attention to what you are doing.
Or read here:
http://www.deucescracked.com/articles/1558-Poker-and-Mindfulness
Thats a small thing he wrote, then some comments and then read his first reply. Basicaly it boils down to breath in, breath out, and make sure you pay attention to it. (some people go overboard by doing yoga breathing etc, thats not the intention)
I just can't explain it very well (I will sound to much like an idiot ) but hopefully this helps you a little preventing you to go on tilt. |

OK...anyone that knows me KNOWS that tilt is my single biggest leak. Every piece of advice I or anyone else can give is only as good as your discipline to use it. I have a few key "rules" that are designed to keep me from tilting:
1. Lose 3 in a row = quit. Maybe for an hour, maybe for the day. Don't come back until you're not mad anymore...and don't lie to yourself.
2. Lose 5 BI's during the course of a session = quit. This is for the day.
3*. Never rematch a fish you lost to twice. Give him a very polite "gg" and then tell the lucky prick to go fu ck himself. Win or lose, never rematch a non-fish.
4. Follow the rules.
*My newly amended #3 is "never rematch...period". This will hopefully correct some of my latest issues with tilt, but may be too extreme for some.
Once again, advice is only as good as your willingness and discipline to put it in practice when it counts. I, for one, find it extremely difficult to walk away when I'm running bad. When I follow my own advice, I absolutely crush...when I don't, I inevitably have a melt down.
I'll certainly be checking out those links as well to try and add some new, better tilt management strategies to my arsenal.
Best of luck!
