Hot Cold equity compares the EV of hands ignoring any further action in the hand.
e.g. I raise AKo on the button and you call with 54o. Your hot & cold equity is 37.7%, but in reality your equity in the hand will be less as you are OOP & I will be able to get you to fold on later streets some proportion of the time by betting.
In simple terms it is the equity of the hand assuming that the board is dealt out with no further action. _________________ I used to play poker
