I'm under the impression that when I play at night on Pokerstars (my time), after 10:30PM NY time and until 5-6 am, at the micro stakes, players are super aggressive? I mean maniacs. That is playing people in the same time zone as me and from Europe. Seems the night brings a lot of drunks/gamblers.
Am I the only one who noticed this? I hate maniacs. They force me to take thought decisions, even when I have a hand. Increased variance playing them.
What are the best times to play? I guess peak traffic times?
Thanks,
D |

Maniacs are the best players to play, and that's a fact. You never have any problem getting paid off.
If you don't like thinking about hands, or making tough decisions, I would suggest you find an easier hobby. _________________ "Cos that's what I do" |

I'd ask on 2+2 if that was the kind of constructive answer I was looking for.
I'm here to learn.
You state the "fact" that they are the best players to play. May I suggest that this fact might not be universal?
For someone who states facts, you quickly switch to assumptions.
It's bad for Broker's business. You see, your mere presence on this forum has made this post of mine my last.
All the best to the rest of the community.

U Cook Socks on PokerStars, Blazing_Saddler on Full Tilt (when it was still alive) and Ucooksocks on Celeb Poker (I poker)
You might not have liked my answer, but the harsh reality is, that poker is about making decisions, thinking about every hand should be standard. What I should have said is, that if you learn how to handle these maniacs, they are the most profitable guys to play.
Sorry if I caused offence, it really wasn't my intention. _________________ "Cos that's what I do" |

| Yeah I think out of all the player types other then good players these guys can be the most difficult to adapt to, but once you've figured it out when they start raising 4/5x pre every hand or whatever they do you'll come to love these guys. Maybe watch some of Brokers vids on loose aggressives or post some hands or matches where you've had trouble... |

Chin up mate, as Doodie said, go and watch a video on aggro types. So often they stack off with 2nd/3rd pair.......

You do have to learn to embrace your demons to be honest. You always get times when everyone seems agro or patches when everyone is a calling station.
The truth is that as you climb the stakes, you will face more and more aggressive players and so have to be comfortable playing them.
At the lower stakes, many over agro players are just spewtards that when you play in a certain way, you get them to put all their chips in so bad. I have to agree with Blazing in as much as that makes you feel like you've reached through the computer screen and crushed someones soul like a grape.
To be fair Blazing is probably the most helpful guy in the world and spent countless hours, selflessly helping others improve their games. I'm sure if you're nice to him then he'll give you some pointers too. _________________ Heads Up Poker Course

In retrospect, my post didn't come over that well, was early, and probably didn't take enough time to explain correctly.
I am a bit confused though, why would you not want to play gamblers ? You are there making educated plays, and they are there, thinking " I have two cards, I call, I like Pie" You have a huge edge over these players. I don't claim to be a great player, it's not some ego trip for me, I'm really not like that. People don't always like the truth, and the truth is, if you want to be good at poker, making tough decisions is going to have to be second nature to you.
I don't know what stakes you play, but I would imagine that at the micro stakes, time of day would make little difference to what type of players you play, 99% of them are fish, your aim is to be in the 1% that isn't. As you move up the stakes, you will find that the time you are talkiing about is the prime time to play, cos in the day, the tables are littered with Regs, hunting a few fish that come along. I am assuming you aren't already playing higher stakes, I could be wrong, but even if you are, you can still take something from this paragraph.
I'm not trying to sound offensive, or anything like that, but I think rather than worrying about playing at a different time, just concentrate on learning to beat the maniacs, then you will come to love them, like your first pet. _________________ "Cos that's what I do" |
