Wont be playing much for a couple weeks, going away for a week, and combined with internet that is consistently dropping out. Have posted goals in overall thread, but will also use them to keep me going in the new year.
Will be continuing with the 9manT, and have some coaching coming up in the next few days (internet dependant), so will probably spend limited time just working on game, reviewing sessions and take in some videos as well.
Take care out there guys, and look forward to catching up soon.
Merry Xmas from me and my close friends .........

Here we are at the end of 2011. Being a good family man we decided to stay in and watch the fireworks from our house. Couple beers to see the new year in, then off for some holiday camping (feel like the Griswalls).
So whats happened this year ????
Well, as usual, i have been playing a merry-go-round of game types, trying to crack the code to one of them and make some good monies. Seems to be the way i always start my blogs off, and then they wither away. Seemed to have found a bit of a niche in the 9mans, but have learned so much from this site, and have definately improved my game since learning the ways of HU. Some principles apply to both variants and has definately improved my game overall.
Have now had almost 3 solid months, and i am extremely happy with the figures and numbers i have been putting out. Not hitting the dizzying heights like some, but satisfied considering my situation (full time work, full time family). Have almost collected all HH in my HEM database, but probably missing about 250 odd games from whatever. The first 200 games are from 9mans, then the next 400 are HU, then back on the 9mans from about the 650 mark.
Have had a little coaching over the past couple weeks, and it has made a massive difference overall. I have also organised some more for the new year when i get back. Is a shame we dont have one on here, as i would be more than happy to support someone form TagPoker. Next project is to set some goals for the new year, and make sure i hit them. Another post.
Oh yeah....................

LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE !!!!!
February will be kicking off the big challenge for me for the year they call 2012. This will be my last and final poker attempt, and will be going all out to make it work. I dabbled back with my old game (9manT) for some modest results late last year, and want to build on it from there. The short of it all, i have acquired a coach on an initial 3 month basis to start with and will be begin with the $7 9mansT, whilst moving up/down using solid bankroll management.
My main goal is to play 600+ games for the month of February. Not going to set out any monthly $$$ goals. Monetary poker goals are difficult because i do not control the outcome of hands played or specific results, i can only put myself in the best position. I feel by setting $$$ goals, it can also make you become results orientated. Playing good solid poker does not automatically mean you will make more $$$ initially, but it will help to making it over the long run (Thats my theory anyway).
Will update weekly on my progress with the odd graph thrown in for good measure (i know there are some that love them). First update will be the 7th February, so till then, good luck on the tables.
Failure is not an option.

Smash it up man!
I used to love the 9man SNGs, and they were always super soft on full tilt like 2 years ago.
good luck _________________ "We do not see the world as it is, we see the world as we are" Anais Nin |

WEEK 1 REPORT
Some may already know, but i have been given an opportunity to work with a solid 9man coach from another training site, with a good incentive for both of us to do well. Have had 3 sessions so far, and feels like i am going 2 steps forward and one step back, but i know there will be an intial learning curve to work through as we identify parts of my game that need to be worked on. We catch up twice a week, once for a sweat session, and the other to go over some tough hands.
Learned a valuable lesson this week. >>>>>>>>> Do not think about playing more tables than i can handle.
I started off playing 6 tables at once and really found it comfortable, so decided to step up to 8 and see how that pans out. After that, decided to try the trial version of Tableninja and for some reason thought i would be Superman for a day, and take on 15 tables at a time (try and guess where this happened on the giraff below).
BAD MOVE.
What a disaster that was. Tables were flashing up everywhere, and i never got back into it until it was over. Definately -EV but a lesson learnt. Went back to a handful of tables and recouped some of the losses, and now just happy to stick with 8 tables, but slightly longer sessions.
One thing to point out about the benefit of playing a few tables at once, is you dont get witness all the bad beats. Now i say that with some sarcasm, as this too is another beginner pitfall at times. What i mean is, for all those times we bitch about losing AA vs 83s, we tend to forget when we open shove J9s and end up cracking a pair of Kings.
The other thing i will mention is the a "hero call". Loosely defined is when you have played your hand well upto the last decision of the hand, and thinking that we have him beat, make a miraculous call to take it down. I think this lesson teaches me one thing, and that is the number of hands we call and miss, seem to outway that one great call and manage to pick up a measly 80 extra chips. Another 3000 chips of "hero calls" to breakeven
Have managed to play 143 games in the first week (internet was down 2 nights), which is an encouraging sign for me to put in my goal of 600 games for the month. But now the goal is to attain these numbers without sacrificing quality of game. I am not too concerned about my results (yet) as i had an horendous fall to grace playing with too many tables.
Swings and roundabouts.

I thought the same
WEEK 2 REPORT
What a nightmare start. Went on the most horrendous runbad for some time there, but managed to work through it, which is a massive accomplishment for me. Finished off with a nice last session for the week. I am getting used to some of the swings that can happen in these games, and thankfully Tableninja closes them before i have a chance to see. Some brutal ups and downs in the graph, but gotta keep focusing on the long haul. As least i have crawled my way out of the red zone.
Back to a reasonable amount of tables at a time , and feel that i am in my comfort zone. Was disappointed with the volume this week, but had so many issues with my internet provider, i was too scared to load up a few tables at times.
Weekly review with the coach has been good, and he didnt come across any glaring issues with my game, but i need to work on ICM a great deal more, as i am missing that odd spot here and there, and that can so make a difference in the long run.
Moving in a Silver star status, which is a huge accomplishment for me, considering the little volume of games i used to play. Another 25 games should just about cover it, and then from there focus on maintaining it, and then reaching for Gold. Continuing with the $7 games at the moment, and it looks like it might be a while till i move up (unless i have one hell of a good run sometime soon).
Back in a week.
