Where in the Philippines Do I Want to Live?I am making a list of five or six places I will consider moving when I head to the Philippines. I do research on some of my breaks to keep me motivated.
I asked for advice in a twoplustwo Philippines thread (219 pages long!) and received some great feedback.
My current list looks something like this:
1. Lipa City
2. Tagaytay
3. Puerto Princessa
4. Dumaguete
5. Bacolod
6. ??? One more
Lipa City and Tagaytay are a couple hours from Manila, but much less crowded and more peaceful. The temperature is extremely moderate, averaging about 75 degrees F. (23 degrees C) The humidity is lower as well.
There is also breathtaking scenery, some nice accessible beaches, and two mega malls nearby (one in Lipa City, one about 40 minutes south). Between the two malls, there are about 700 stores.
Puerto Princessa is supposed to be very nice, but may be a little too isolated for me. It will be a nice place for a short vacation, if nothing else.
I travelled through Bacolod once, and it seemed interesting. The city itself is too big, but I'll looke about 20 minutes outside the city and see what I think.
Dumaguete is a very peaceful and somewhat cool college and university town. It is extremely clean and unpolluted.
I will spend about a month travelling to these different places before deciding on a place to live.
This keeps my poker-playing motivation up!
