Archive for Tagpoker Forum A friendly place for winning poker players to share their strategy to making money playing poker.          Tagpoker Forum Forum Index -> Beginner Questions Fixmygame Volume Range Hey guys, Just a curiosity question.  I was wondering what the average volume a TAG member plays per month.  I know some of you play like 40 games a day, while others may only play 5.  I'm just trying to get an idea where I stand.  I've really decreased my volume because if you've caught any of my past threads you know I went a little tilty. I realize that volume is whatever I am comfortable with.  I wish I could play more however I have 3 kids and one of my new rules is NOT to play when they are home.  I think trying to play while the kids are screaming (i have 2 boys under 3 and a 7yo girl) was impacting my game so I quit playing when they are home.  My volume has been cut by more than half, however my results have since been awesome. So throw some numbers at me if you have a sec and let me know what kind of numbers you hit per month. Take Care All   Keep grinding away. BetMagicMoney i aim for 270 a month but usally only get in 200 - im trying this month to put in 270 games to prove to myself i can do it, so far im just about on track! hope this helps aggsyb Really depends what games u play, this month im aiming for 240 games (I play deepstack so games are longer and wait times are even longer lol) this month coming im aiming for 250-300+ forced I too have 3 children 14, 7 and 2 years old... I cannot play when they are in the room... so I made mysef a 'man cave' in the basement. They tilt me so bad when im playing.... Im also trying to do the .... if I lose 3 games straight, I quit for the day, or change sites...lol bridgegunner well i am a dad of 2 little girls aged 3 and 1 and i understand fully about making rules of not playing while they are home or awake for that reason. i used to try and grind all the time but i would go on life tilt when the kids or wife were on me to do something or talk to me. i am the kind of player that needs complete concentration to play and when i have to keep and eye on one of the kids or talking to my wife about anything it totally destroys my game. i began resenting them as i would tilt off so many buy ins by knowing i should beat the player i am playing but getting tilted by forces outside the actual game. dont get me wrong i love my family but they are brutal for my poker game it was one of david chicotsky's artist about removing all the distractions while you play and i put 2 and 2 together and made a rule to not play while they are awake. i put the kids in bed by 8 hang with the wife till 10 then grind till 2 or 3. i play on average 40-50 games a week in limit hu sng and 25-30 no limit hu games a week. i push hard when i drind so i can keep my time there for my family. the reason i do it this way is so i can get the best bang for my time restraints and still push towards my end goal of playing for a living. i want to be able to make my own hours so i can spend more time with my family giving them the life we all deserve. remember why you do it make a plan and do your best to push your goals daily,weekly and monthly. the only decision you can contril is the one in front of you. hope that helps Fsansana That is completely game type dependent and if multitable or not. In my case...when I try to open another table I just enter in autopilot, not plying enough attention to villain's moves and patterns. So I only play one table. I think that you should not push your B game just to increase the volume, if you are playing poorly, your volume may not overcome the EV you are loosing from bad plays. I think that around 200 games, for a recreational player that have others things to keep up, should be fine. As you said, just play when you feel comfortable about it. Kids are very +EV...I want some very soon!!!! They may limit your volume, but when you are on tilt you just have to look at them smiling and your day just become brighter. Varange peace and quiet I find that I play at my best when I have peace and quiet as well. Brokerstar explained that the difference between being a winning player and a losing player is really small, so I too find it important to be playing my A-game when I play. Seems rather obvious - as few distractions as possible. See how + EV that is   Kids are great, I love mine more than anything in the world, but they definitely weren't invented to make parents lives easier   bptrippin Definitely go with quality rather than quantity mate, but at the same time trying to push yourself just a little. I think a good balance is in order. youre not going to play your A game when for example, you know youve got things to do but youre trying to squeeze in a few more games. You should have some time spare thats just for poker, nothing else, and you know that you have that time spare - its not going to affect another area of your life. I think concentration levels play a big factor...my concentration span is crap, probs why i dont do well in large mtt''s lol  I like to play a few, win or lose ill have a quick smoke/coffee break and jump back in...other people will be comfortable grinding for hours and hours no probs at all. I don't blame you, although I don't ever remember deciding to have kids either, it just kind of happens. My little bundle of joy has consumed my life for now!!! I know it'll ease off, but I do reminice of the days when I could play poker at my leisure forced Is that so ? AFAIK Primo does 1200 per month & he plays fulltime, so do do that along with a fulltime job would be pretty sick.
