Understanding graphs

As part of ongoing education, thought I'd start to look at poker tracker stats

Here is a graph similar to the ones I see posted

Is this good/bad???

Cheers guys

In poker, a graph that is in the positive is good.

There are a few things to consider when paying any attention to graphs and the main thing is sample size.

That graph looks like it consists of about 800 hands in total which for most is less than a days play and therefore doesn't really tell you much about your ability level.

When you have a graph that looks like that say after 50,000 hands then you can start to feel more confident that you're doing something right.

Of course there are lots of people out there that say you need at least 200 million hands to know if you're even close to being a winner lol but in fairness you do need a lot more than 800 hands to even consider a graph either good or bad.

In short, your lines all look good now just do it for a much longer period of time.

Good luck

This is purely HUSNG

Not sure what it all means, but that's not unusual  Very Happy

im assuming you understand the difference between the lines?

For HUSNG you'll want to have a graph showing # of game played on the x-axis and either $ won or buy-ins won on the y-axis. # of hands and BB won mean nothing for tourneys and SNGs, they're for cash games.

sorry for numpty way of posting this.

I actually don't know the difference, would like to know wtf it all means...

In a HUSNG you only win money when you win the whole thing. In cash games, every X amount of blinds you win is exactly how much money you win.

The blinds change in a tournament/HUSNG. So you can win/lose the same amount of money per game (not exactly, because of rake), but you can win, say, 75 bb if you win during the first level, then lose only 50bb the next game if you lose during the second blind level. It will record as being +25bb overall, but your money is break-even minus the rake.

And # of hands is different every HUSNG, it doesn't matter at all. Only cash games are "measured" in bb and hands. Cash game win rates are measured as #bb/100 hands, whereas HUSNG win rates are measured as a % of total games played.
