Whats the best way to approach these? Stab the flop and give up? Check/call?

I mean a stab isn't making any Ax or pocket pair fold, probably not better kings either. But check/call means you don't have any fold equity. I understand check/calling is good when the opponent is aggressive, but what about the average stationy fish and the average passive weak tight opponent? Just check it down? Or take a stab?

I am going to bet half pot on a lot of occasions (no reads etc) because you will get called by worse hands trying to hit a pair. Plus check calling sucks balls.

There is a lot of info that may make this decision different though. Reads on your opponent, effective stack sizes, gameflow and so on.
