To hell and back: worst downswing I ever had

Hello !

Here is the graph of the worst downswing I ever had playing husngs, today officially over ( I hope:) as I finally pulled into the positive numbers:

At worst downturn I was around 30 buyins below Ev which shows again how important a good bankroll management really is and how fast you can go down and up.

These are all reg speeds on pokerstars btw and just for the reference here is my graph from full tilt where I didn't experience anything even close to that (same stakes):

I would also like to say special thanks to Blazing Saddler for being a huge
help during this shitty patch !

Good luck and take care everyone !

What did I say to you, the first time I watched you play ? Your game is easily good enough to beat the $10 games and above. I knew you had been having a tough time, what I didn't know is how much below EV you were running. It's easy to blame variance, but it really does look like you just hit some sick downswing. Obviously you can always improve, but all the same, your recent results suggest you are good enough as I first said.

I must apologise, as I did say I would give you some more help, I just haven't had the time the past few weeks. I haven't played nearly as much poker as I should be myself. Hit me up on Skype any time you see me online, if I don't answer, then I probably aren't at my computer, but I will get back to you.

Your already a good player, and your attitude towards getting better is spot on. So I see only good things for you in the future.

Glad to see your hard work starting to pay off.

All the best Blazing

I was 40 BI below EV at one point. ATM 20 BI below EV because I tilted some BI away from running as shitty as I do for months in a row. I know some other HU regs, all running like absolute vomit. It seems like it's pretty normal to run 20-40 BI below EV.

Why are you still playing $10s btw? 1k profit on FTP, you should be playing atleast $30s.

Nice work man, keep plugging away!!  Always on skype for advice/support.  GL etc

Well,to be honest I am pretty surprised with swings in Husngs, I mean with a winrate in range of 55-60% I believed that having downswings of more than 10 buyins should be a very rare thing, seems pretty naive now:)

Regarding moving in  stakes, it is simply a matter of low confidence, I had a shot at 20s suffered a 15 buyin downswing, panicked and moved down again, now I realize it was a standard swing and that I should have simply continue plogging through.

Thanks, you are very kind !

Man, 30 buyins below Ev, props for playing through it. You must have been fuming.

I had the opposite, couldn't catch the red line on FT but above it on Stars. After 100 games on Stars I don't think I've had a game of poker with a villain thinking above level 1, they don't fold. They're quite passive compared to the maniacs on Tilt but 100% vpip from both blinds and their stats on folding flops and turns in single figures is the standard. If you can't hit anything on the flop or turn there's nothing you can do, you can't bluff.

Nice to see you just grit your teeth and play through it. Many a mere mortal would of spewed off a ton off money and made their graphs look much worse than need be.

GG man.   Cool

Only on the micro's, though? If this is on the $15 level then I'm moving to stars, lol. Alot of $10s FTP villains gave me trouble in the beginning, but brokers coaching showed me they're usually nothing more then calling stations with fancy play syndrome. I should know, I used to be one. Actually, I still am one Sad.

I've never played higher than the 7s yet but mostly the 3.50 shootouts, they're quite a bizarre lot playing them. Full of Russians and Ukraines playing something but it's not Holdem. What's happening over there, is there a poker boom?

I'm not sure what it is, but it involves clicking nothing but the bet button then call, no slider moving, nothing else, if it's your go then just instantly click the bet button. Russian poker strategy sites must be a strange read.

They're just playing Russian Poker.
