Tilt

I have gotten better with my tilting.  When I first started playing poker (as everyone, I didn't know what I was doing, I knew what beat what etc), so if I got it in good and got sucked out on, I wouldn't get upset because I saw it as a loss for me.  THen as soon as I gotten better and understood game dynamics, I would get upset if my QQ lost to JJ etc stuff like that, or the guy went running straight against my flopped set etc.  I have gotten better in the past month.  Is there anything that you guys have done/did/do, to not let tilt creep up on you and make you upset?

I was told of a quote from livb112:

"Tilt is a fickle and unpredictable bitch. She comes in from different angles at times I don't even expect. Understanding her twisted methodology has proven elusive and in some instances even counter-productive. She is tamer than she once was but my main focus is keeping her in a cage....."

That quote has mellowed me out a bit, but 'she' (sorry not meaning to sound sexist here) still come out of her cage lately.

One way I found to not get tilted was - don't get upset if you make a mistake, learn from it. Don't get upset if you adapted to villain, and you put him on air/junk and check call flop, check-raise turn cause he's a lag, and he has a set..you will run into this now and again and told myself that.

I used to be a tilt master (in my eyes!) then I got poor, now i'm getting better and better everytime, the more you learn and understand the less you'll tilt imo.

Also understand that when you run bad, that it means you will run into hand after hand after hand..you are not playing bad, it's just what happens, learn this! Just because you got run over in one game or even 5 in a row, does not mean you are a worse player if you can TELL you are not, as long as you know it's because your running bad and he's running like god.

Make the right decisions at the right time the majority of the time, and you will tilt less.

A good player is one who handles tilt aswell as they play.

Try some Tommy Angelo breathing exercises to calm you down. Breathe in while touching your index finger to your thumb. Breathe out with touching your middle finger to your thumb. Repeat as much as needed.

Alternatively when you feel the tilt coming on, fire up your Xbox and smash some people apart on a shoot'em up.

fyp, and if I do that, I just tilt even more.  Especially when I shoot at them, and they should be dead, but the lag stops it and they kill me. Tilts me to no end.  I would rather tilt on Black Ops than poker though
