Thoughts from TAGpoker.

Hi guys,

I'm thinking about doing a video package on tournament poker and the transition from HUSNG's to MTT's.

It would consist of 8-10 one hour videos.

Would like to know what you guys think about this, and what price range you would expect to pay for such a package.

It would consist of several different mediums, from live footage, to HH reviews to power point presentations.

Thoughts, comments etc. if you don't mind.

P.S - Broker if this is inappropriate for me to post let me know via skype and I will happily remove the post.

Mat.

I think it's a great idea.

It's quite diffucult for someone else to pitch a price for you  Very Happy  The thing is, 10 1 hour videos, is a lot of work for you. I am guessing at least 20-25 hours work when totalled up, if not more.

I think $100 is fair (probably to cheap) However the audience it will interest on TAG, probably wont be able to afford any more, and may even struggle with $100. You still gotta make your $ though, so I don't think you can go to much cheaper.

Personally I don't really have time right now to put the effort in to learning another format, but I wish someone had something like this on offer 5 years. I used to play a fair few MTTs, but I never really had any idea of a decent structure on how to approach them, and often ended up blinding away in the end.

Good luck with it anyway, everyone knows your a sicko  Very Happy

Well, basically 8-10 hour sessions is almost like saying its about 10 hours worth of coaching which at $50 an hour is about 400/500. However as its pretty easily recreated and distributed by yourself you don't have to charge as much for your time so to speak.

You could do a sort of introductory rate and send it to so many people for a cheaper price, for example $100 such as Blazing said, then receive feedback on how much those people would pay for the information. It will then work well as you can implement any improvements that they may have and if it does need anything else they cannot complain as it was cheaper.

The main thing you have to consider is once you've made it you can literally recreate it in seconds and it won't cost you any more to do so. When you can fire off this package to many people you want an affordable price that still pays you for your work. I assume this will be a sort of transition guide as oppose to a full on guide to beating all MTTs?

What sort of levels would these videos get people beating? If it's going to give someone the opportunity to start earning $500 a week then paying $350 for the package is a no brainer if you get what I mean?

Therefore I personally recommend you send it out a cheaper price and get some feedback. Hope that sorta gives you an idea.

This is an interesting point that you bring up Tommy.  Yes it easy for me to recreate, but I also bear the risk that people can send it to others who have not paid for it.  I'm not sure about how to control this side of it.

In regard to what level it would be aimed at.  It would cover the transition, and be a guide to beating low-midstakes.

Is there no (free or cheap) software to encrypt files, so they can't be distributed after sale?

I don't know, I haven't checked how much this kind of stuff is available, but it's an idea. Or maybe there is a way you can upload the videos on to a website with a password, which could be changed on a regular basis.

Just a few ideas anyway.

yes there are, but is it worth doing, no! basically anything you encrypt/encode to stop redistribution can be crack by anyone with half an ounce of knowledge unfortunately Sad

As to this pack i think its sound like a great idea Smile I think pricing wise a great way to maximize sales is possibly to provide descriptions of each vid and give people the option to buy them separately, this would be a great way for low stakes players to,
1)get some of your content
2)try out your coaching style to see if its for the before they hand over a large portion of there bankroll.

Pricing i think should be 100-150 range i think (again just my opinion) also make by the pack cheaper than all the separate vids so if 10 vids in pack,
Pack: $125
per video: $15 ($150 for entire pack at this price)

Hope that gives you some ideas Very Happy <3

Sounds like a great idea to me, it might be more secure if you setup a website with a one off fee to join and let people stream the videos off there, then again I have no idea how much it would cost to run the site so it might be counter productive.

Yeah, there is always the chance that there could be channels of distribution outside of your control. However, as a whole I find the poker community can be very trustworthy. I believe I can speak for myself and the entire TAG community that we wouldn't send this to others as there is a much more tight nit group. I, personally, can trust many members of this site with my own money, you included, when it comes to transfers etc and I believe that there may not be as much on the side distribution as you may expect. It will always be there, though, but I do think that if you are careful as to who you sell it to (although you won't want to refuse everyone) you can limit the damage done by piracy.

Re: Thoughts from TAGpoker.

I'm interested, but drm or an internet site with a password would be a big turnoff. I wouldn't share. If I pay for something I just prefer to have the opportunity to watch it in the future.

A fair price would probably be in the region of $150 - $300, but I have some doubts whether you will find enough takers on Tag to make it worth your while.

I wouldn't give too much thought to encryption as if people want to copy it & distribute it they will.

Agreed Sausage. And most people want to give good information to friends/teammates/etc but keep some for themselves. You're net revenue loss from redistribution won't be much imo.

Think it's great idea, would be great tho if the vids could be bought separately rather than as a whole pack!!
