The Tag Poker Lifestyle challenge!Hey guys
I've always been that fat kid, never ever ever in my life have I been weighing normally so I'm calling it quits now.
My diet has never been terrible, although I have had a tendency to eat out a lot and not really focus on the caloric content of what I eat.
My main problem has been lack of exercise. Hardcore secluded gamer since the age of 11 and general inability to do anything physical has lead me to the position I'm in and have been for as long as I can remember.
Last year I moved to London to start afresh, and it was my plan that once I got settled I would join a gym and get started on doing intense cardio and weight lifting multiple times per week whilst also focusing on my diet.
I won't go to extremes though - I'll still have a pizza once in a while or a few pints with the mates, I won't restrict my lifestyle, just simply control it better.
I talked to Blazing about this and he realized that he was in a similar position and wanted to join in on this journey, so we figured - why not just create a topic on TagPoker like a bankroll thread, but instead of using dollars and buyins we used stones and pounds.
I'm currently weighing in at roughly 275 lbs which puts my BMI in the OBESE RED ZONE OF DEATH. To get below "Overweight" into "Normal" I would need to drop below 200 lbs which means my target weight loss is 75 lbs and change.
I will achieve this through a new gym membership where I'm going to do cardio and lift weights and take an occasional swim in their pool. If anyone else are up for making a similar challenge, please don't hesitate to join in on the thread as support from others definitely improves your chances of success.
So without further ado:
DAY 1:
Weight: 275 lbs
Difference: -0 lbs
Overall Loss/Gain: 0 lbs
Until target: 75 lbs
Thank you for your support and gl to everyone who joins in! (cue blazing next)

Yes, after talking to Chris on Skype, he inspired me to do this. I have always been overweight pretty much since leaving school. I lived life hard when I was younger, drinking, eating out, not really taking much notice off anything other than enjoying myself.
In the past I have always had a manual job, which probably helped keep the weight down to a certain extent, but over the past 3 years or so, since things changed in my life, I have added an extra 2 or 3 stones. I don't feel good about myself, so I guess it is up to me to do something about it.
I don't have an exact weight to give right at this moment, and have no scales in the house (ingorance is bliss ) will do it tomorrow though. I am somewhere around 17stone though.
My goal is to lose 4 Stone, to get down to around 13stone. Will work all this out in pounds when I have a correct weight.
Good luck to Chris, and thanks for the inspiration.

Good luck with this guys.
I have been up and down with my weight for years much like Ricky Hatton. I'd be 11 stone for a fight then 14 stone when I'm drinking, eating sh!t and not training.
There has to be a balance. My main advice is that you can still eat lots of food but eat the right food. I like my food and lots of it so it's important for me to consume in the right way.
Big breakfast
Medium lunch
Small dinner
Most English people do it the other way round which is why so many are struggling with excess weight.
With regards to working out my main piece of advice is to pick an activity that you enjoy. Most people fail here as they pick cardio work that they hate and feels like a chore.
For me staying in shape now is easy as I do Jiu Jitsu nearly everyday and it never feels like a bore because I am enjoying myself too much. Imagine you could go paint balling every day (that's how it feels for me).
Lots of nice veg, lots of lean meat like Salmon, turkey and chicken. Eat the right size meal for the time of day and do something you enjoy and will likely stick with because of it and watch the weight fall off.
Best of luck.

i use to do a program called 'body for life' By Bill Phillips. and it was absolutley amazing... I followed the program to a 'T' and all my buds were amazed at the transformation .... although my goal was'nt to lose weight... it was to gain weight (that's another story in itself).... but the program is for both.....
plus they use to have a contest where you could win $100k... not sure if they still have it... should be right here... http://bodyforlife.com/
well they drastically reduced the challenge prizes... it's $5k now. but the knowledge i gained in terms of diet and exercising is invaluable.... and for less than an hour of exercise a day..

Yes! You'll need to learn to love the veggies and lean meats. I especially love ground turkey. As a side note, it also might be very helpful to try and eat 5-6 times a day. Doing so will help keep your metabolism up. In addition, although it will be a pain in the ass, count your calories. You'll be surprised how much calories you actually consume on a day to day basis because you aren't aware of portion sizing. I used to wrestle, do judo, and later got into jiu jitsu and to help watch my weight, I bought a food scale and measuring cups. Both were invaluable investments.

Whilst I am not a huge bloater like the first two posters in this thread appear to be I am up for this as I could definitely do with losing a few pounds.
I am currently 187lbs and would like to lose 12lbs in the next 6 weeks.

Welcome on board Sausage!
Today I just walked around the streets of london for a good number of hours and didn't finish until 8.30 pm so I was unable to get to the gym.
Tomorrow I'll either play tennis/badminton or take some time on the treadmill.
Feeling better already.

i got 2 bits of advice that are small but will have huge effects.
1. eat until you are not hungry but not full. we make our food portions too big. think how many times you have had a meal and finished it not because you were hungry but just because you didnt want to waste food.
2. cardio...long sessions are a waste of time. you wanna be doing sprints they are awsome for dropping weight
hope that helps

Dudes if I may pipe up. Joining some kind of club like muay Thai, tennis, running, spin cycle etc has been the way to go for me. I simply haven't got the self motivation to keep it up otherwise. I need some structure and some sergeant major character berating me. I always slack off at the gym as there's no one to challenge me if I take a ten minute break. Funnily enough I've been doing Muay Thai for over a year now and if you wanna get fit quick I'd really recommend it! Also spin cycle is a great way to get rid of some weight..

I've changed my diet to get down a weight division for my next BJJ comp.
Today
Breakfast
Bio yog, fresh fruit (blueberries and melon) and Granola all in a bowl (actually tastes amazing).
Lunch
Salmon fillet, lot's of Mange tout, broccoli, asparagus and carrot. A soft boiled egg and a sprinkling of black pepper.
Snack later
Half a cup of granola with chopped banana.
Dinner
Chicken and fresh vegetable stir fry.
Plus about 2 litres of sparkling water. (throughout the day not just for diner ha ha)
First thing in the morning I was doing interval training which consisted of jogging the length of a polo pitch and then sprinting the width (4 times)
Then at 1pm I had a Brazilian Jiu jitsu class.
I will get to under 82kg in a gi if it kills me!!!!!!!!

I bought the "LL Cool J Platinum Workout" and it's been working great for me. When I started it 13 weeks ago I was around 210 lbs with minimal muscle tone. Now I'm around 190 lbs with defined muscles. What sucks for me though is that I have ulnar nerve damage in my right arm so I couldn't lift very heavy, and now I've stopped any arm-using exercise to give it a chance to heal, which could take months
Anyway, he advocates the whole 5-7 meals a day thing, and there are different "phases" - bronze, silver, gold, platinum. Cheat meals are recommended too, because you lose your sanity without them! It has a lot of weightlifting in the workout plans because, as he states a lot, "building muscle burns fat." Cardio only burns fat during and shortly after the workout, but build up muscle and your body is chugging away all day.
Long walks, tennis, and pure cardio won't get results nearly as quick or exciting as a good weight + cardio routine will. If you can get the book, give it a try. You have to join a gym for it, which I was nervous about at first, but it motivates you a lot more than doing something on your own. Plus there's every kind of person there, not just ripped dudes. Everyone from old & flabby to young hot chicks (which is nice eye candy )

this has been my fav thread in tag poker so far. i have laughed at almost every post u euro's are crazy lol. i have no idea about some of the things u drink and eat are but by the reactions they sound fatty and delicious. for my self i just starting joggin in the am 3 x a week and i am going to take a run at p90x in september. i have always cooked and ate well outside of my obsession for burgers as i am a firm believer in making good food for my kids. on the menu tonight centre cut pork loin chops with wild mushroom hunter sauce- baked beans cooked in a southern chipotlie brown butter sauce topped off with our world famous taber corn on the cob. my keyboard is gonna need a wipe soon
hope everyone can keep on track
cheers

I fell off of 6 foot scaffolding 2 weeks ago and injured my lower back... currently on compo. I cant help but thinking if I was in shape I would not be in so much pain... I think once my injury is healed I will do a routine and post some before and after pics....

You never said you were heading over our way, could have had a pint. Oh yeah, meant to be living healthy
Doing quite well at this end actually, haven't weighed in yet, but I feel loads better.
3 meals a day, including breakfast which I have skipped for years. No fat at all, more water instead of gallons of coffee a day, feeling great.
