Session routine? Now it may be coincidence, but this week so far Monday and Tuesday have been so different poker wise its like black and white.
Monday: Came straight home from work, went for a short run (2 miles). Came back, cooled down, showered, washed the dishes. Played 10, won 7. Happy with my play and felt confident.
Tuesday: Meant to come straight home from work, but a friend rang me just as I was leaving the office to chat about some life variance (i.e. he is having a bad time at the moment). Ended up sat in the car in the office car park for about an hour talking to him. Came home, didnt go for a run as I couldnt be arsed. Ate but the dishes are still in the sink. Played 11, won 4. Felt like I wasnt running great and confidence kinda came back down somewhat.
So the point is, what types of routine do you guys employ before and after a session? What has worked best for you? Is this a serious issue in being a winning player or is it a case "the mental side is only important for those that think it is"
Particularly interested in what the guys who went through the course and are now smashing up the higher stakes do in terms of routine and how that changed to when they were breakeven/slight winning players.

I like to read the outline from the course. I also have a couple of pages of quotes from videos/articles I like to look at before and during a session to keep me focused. Reviewing a few hands/games before really gets me focused. Need to be sure I have everything set up before hand too. Empty bladder, full waterbottle, etc. so I won't be under stress during a session.

The human mind is a strange thing. The fact the dishes weren't done, makes no difference whatsoever to the cards, or even to your play if it doesn't bother you. However if it is there niggling in the back of your mind, it will definitely have an effect.
One of the reasons I am glad I am such an untidy bugger, doesn't bother me in the slightest how much of a mess the house is, I can still play
You need to do, whatever it is that gives you 100% focus on your game. If you need to do all of the things you said, then do them, or adapt your brain to not be bothered about them.

The dishes being done was more tongue in cheek, but I certainly feel like going for a run first helps me empty my brain of work related stuff.
Did that last night - ran kinda sucky but felt like I played closer to my A game than B game for the most part
