Right! This time, a little dedication.

Wow, I have really been going about this BR building thing wrong. The annoying thing is I think I am decent at this game. I am up lifetime, but I do tilt and give up pretty easily.

Even more annoyingly, I am pretty stubborn sometimes. As someone once titled their thread on 2+2, I cannot give up, so I might as well do this.

So this time, I am doing something a little different. I am clearly being greedy, unrealistic or childish about variance. But one thing is clear: due to my lack of volume, a monetary goal is really unhelpful. Because if I only play 50 games in a particular month, there isn't sufficient volume to emerge from any downswings.

This thread might take me the whole of 2012 but I don't care. I am going to do this. Just stuck £30 on PokerStars and starting at the $3.50 turbo hu sngs. I'll be using a 25/20 BR guide. No more money goals, this is a volume one.

My goal: to simply play 1000 games.

The reason being that if I play 1000 games, I know I'll have  won some money, some experience and a dedication to do this. This way, I won't fall into the trap of talking about money, whether I am up or down, EV etc etc.

So let's go. Consider this an early 2012 thread. I won't be sticking graphs up and I'll try and avoid talking about my BR. So this may be boring, but sorry - I think this will do me good.

As always, thanks and GL to all.

My old thread might help you, purely because I just grinded up from the $1s for a challenge and my way up before I stopped playing.

Aim for games played and not money, and set a realistic ROI, not something like 15% but maybe 5%ROI if you feel you are easily able to attain that, think what that actually means, 5% Return on what your paying with, and think of it long-term, not short-term, think of everytime you play a $3 game for example you made .15cent for every game you lost with a 5% ROI, rather then I lost 8BIs in a row and I lost $24 let's say due to runbad, coolered etc etc and not bad play, you did not lose $24 long-term, instead you made .15 for everyone of them games played.

Keep thinking of the positives and not the negatives, it's the best advice I can give you.

You see, that's why I love this site!

Thanks mate. Will have a good read in the morning.

Iceman is right in how you should view games.

You have never really won or lost x amount of buy ins. Providing you really are playing a winning style then your have say y% of your buy in, regardless of winning or losing.

I think this will really help with tilting.

Best of luck.

I don't think it will be boring at all. Hope you keep it updated, will make a nice change to do something different.

I think it's  a very good idea.  Good Luck !

Nothing mega to update, but played 36 games now. I am up (which is the main thing) but I feel like I am running terrible.

Not sure how relevant the red line is in HEM with hu sngs, but running well below it (8 buy-ins under at the 3s). I suppose most of y'all will say thats nothing, but it is pretty substancial to me lol. Well, I guess I should be pleased that I am in profit and still playing...

I definitely feel breaking days down into chunks helps.

But this time, I am taking advice and trying to play through it and keep my head. GL all.
