Pugery's BRB $300-$2000So I had a break from poker for something like 3 years while I went to university. I used to play NL200 so the goal is to get my roll high enough to play those stakes again. I built my role from $50 up to $650 then decided to try my luck at betonline so cashed out and depsoited $300 . Hopefully I'll also get some coaching from brokerstar at some point.
Day one didn't go so well -$85. Lost one pot of $75 with QQ vs AQh, all in PF. Flop was a rainbow no ace then turn and river were both hearts giving him a flush. Thenlost another $60 pot where I got drawn out on again by a flush. I would have been in the green if I'd won these two, anyway this sort of thing happens alot no point boring everyone with the details or getting upset about it.
The only costly mistake i made was against this guy who 3 bet me like 5 times in a row. So finally i decided to play back and 4 bet with Q10dd on the button he called my big raise from BB. Flop came down 7d8dJs. He checked I shoved (my stack was about same as the pot) he called and won with 55. I had him figured for a decent TAG since he was sitting with 400BB and seemed to understand 3 bets. I guess it was spewy of me to shove there he couldv'e had JJ, QQ my reasoning was that my range looked strong, he could´ve had a lot of junk and with a flush draw and inside straight draw I still had outs. Dunno how he put me on a bluff, more likley he was just a donk making a hero call.
Anyway new roll $215.
Thoughts for next session:
Don't make big bluffs even if it seems like a good spot
Cbet less
Don't try to steal blinds PF with mediocre hands
Don't think I can put up a graph, I can't even figure out how to copy paste hand history

What stakes were you playing with your 300? Even on a site as fishy as BO, you should try to have at least 8 to 10 buy-ins, so I hope you weren't at NL50. And the QdTd hand doesn't seem a bad move at all, that villain just seems like an aggro station that got lucky that time. If he's doing stuff like that with 55, he is BAD and you can make a killing off him in the long run.
Even against a range full of hands that have you beat on the flop, you're still basically even money...
Board: 7d 8d Js
Dead:
equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 49.438% 49.28% 00.16% 45369 148.50 { QdTd }
Hand 1: 50.562% 50.40% 00.16% 46404 148.50 { QQ-55, AJs, KJs, QJs, JTs, T9s, 98s, 87s, AJo, KJo, QJo, JTo, T9o }
Anyway, GL at the tables!

I was playing at NL50 mostly because a guy I knew to be a huge fish was there. Anyway will be playing NL25 until I get up to ~$500.
Looking at those stats I didn't need much fold equity at all to make it +EV. He must be really bad, I did add him to my buddy list to stack him at a later date. As you say anyone calling a 4 bet OOP with 55 must be a donk without even considering his call postflop.
Hopefully my luck will turn around next session.

Ok time for day two update, played 3 tables of NL25. Once again ran quite bad, started off -$60 but battled on through bad cards the whole way and ended +$50 for the day. If only my hands would hold I'd be moving up to NL 50 very soon. Not really many strategy related notes, it was all pretty standard.
I was wondering how to copy paste my hand histories, others seem to manage, sandman you seemed to have done so.
Edit: new role is 270

Have to turn on saving hand histories. On an open table, click the hand history button in top right, click options, and choose where to save them.

Very swingy day and ran like a one legged pensioner.. with arthritis... Had AA cracked 3 times vs 55, QQ and A8. Also got all in on the flop with a set of jacks vs QQ for him to hit a queen on the turn. But that's poker, I'm definitly gonna have huge upswing once my hands hold. Once again there weren't many spots where I thought I played too bad. Still can't figure out where my hand histories are going, they arn't in the folder they say.
The one hand where I think I played bad was vs a donk. I raise with A7s on the button to $1 he reraises to 1.75 so I called. Flop comes A810chh, he checks I check back. Then he bets pot on turn and river which were like 2 and 4 (not hearts). I folded to the river bet. Probably wasn't super bad play but in retrospect I should have bet the flop. Still unsure whether or not I should have called the river more than likely he had KK-JJ or a busted flush draw.
Anyway I'm generally pretty happy with how I'm playing and these guys are so bad I will be building my role sharpish.
Role: $154

even though I had my aces cracked i still managed to chuckle at just how bad the other players were. My mistake was not shoving preflop I think.

I love the extreme bankroll management ha ha.
When i started playing NL200 with $2000 the swings to my roll at least were brutal.
But like you have already spotted, the players for the most part are that horrific that as soon as your hands hold up then you can have the most amazing positive swing!!
How many tables are you playing on average and are you using any stats software?

No software, have you discovered some HUD that works?? I find three tables works best for me at the moment. I find note taking quite challanging though mostly because you can't click the buttons while writing the note. I miss my HUD, but not enough to not want to play here! Perhaps slightly risky but I'm basically not gonna go bust as long as I move down at sensible times.
I have found that a part of the swings is because these guys are so bad I don't mind getting it in lighter like the following example where normally I'd say it's bad shoving but in truth 8 times out of ten i've found I'm ahead in this spot on BO. Maybe it's bad play get it in here. Thoughts? The first hand is probably the worst since KJ was very much in his range but so was a lot of other hands that I beat.

how not to play Q10. This was bad bad bad limp calling OOP what was I thinking! Anyway the small bet sizes convinced me correctly that he didn't have much either a draw, air or a weak queen. I called him down because I thought the first two would occur often enough to make calling reasonable. Maybe in 6 max it would have been ok but FR i now realise this was -EV. He probably would have folded if I'd bet the turn, in fact that would have been a good play...

fairly mediocre day, made a couple of bad plays and reasonably cold cards. Mixed in a table of NL50 FR although it was very aggressive BR management I wanted to chase some fish who were sitting there with decent stacks. I discovered there are more "regs" playing there and also that I much prefer to play 6 max. Think I'll wait until I have $500 before I play NL50 again and also will stick to 6 max. From watching the NL 100 and NL200 those games look softer than many of the NL50 games, can't wait to get stuck in!!!
bank roll $385...
Little dissapointed that after 4 days playing I only have $85 profit
|
emoninja
|
Yesterday was horrific, got up to $480 so started playing NL 50 vs some horrendous fish and somehow have ended up with only $186. Probably should have moved down before getting below $200 but hey I still feel fairly confident I can crush these guys so I doubt I'll keep losing. Fingers crosses, I'll build up again quickly.
I feel like a huge leak is not respecting donks raises enough, I seem to be showing up with set vs full house, second set, set vs straight too often. So I'm gonna try and fold more, give a little more respect and go with my reads.

OK here's what I do when I take a shot with only ten buyins.
I ONLY pick the softest games and if I drop as much as two buyins then I drop back down.

softest games was a definite tick, I was in fact playing against fish that I'd descovered previously and buddy listed in NL25. Not stopping after dropping a few buy-ins was certainly a mistake though.

Time for an update I guess. I haven´t played much and when I have I've been struggling with some really bad beats like this incredible one.
Anyway down to $225
The very first hand I played, I literally must have been like 97% to win on the flop. Yes I know playing K10s from the blind vs EP isn't an awesome play but the raiser is someone I know to be a horrendous fish.
