pokerdonuts BR jouneyhi guys, not posted since indro on 10/2.Writing this because anyone new to HU, like me, might find it useful. So signed up with FT and started to play the $2s. At the time decided to sign up to brokerstars foundation course and finished pt3 on the 17/2.(saving pt4 for when i really need it) So lot to take in and real adjustments to my game to make. Started terrible, before and during the course could not believe how bad it went.
Played - 116
winning- 55 (47.4 %)
losing - 61 (52.6 %)
Spent hrs studying and going over my game. Then following the weekend decided to stop playing the $2s even though i was running bad and move to the $5s. My thinking was that the hole was too deep to find the motivation to grind myself out at this level and the belief that brokerstars coaching was finally sinking in. After all we are gamblers.
Lost my first $5 but since then have not looked back-
Total game count @ $5- 175
winning - 110 (62.9%)
losing -65 (37.1 %)
Still got along way to go but just wanted to share the fact things don't always start out the way we wish. The important points for me are get the basics right first. If your serious take some foundation coaching, brokerstar's excellent. But don't expect a magic wand. Some excellent guys on the forum you can get inspired from. Do the volume.. kierkgaard1
the legend, shows this perfectly. If you have a fairly solid game then imho its just a numbers game , no pun intended. If you play 6 games and have a winning or losing session its hard to read too much into how your really playing because the sample's too small. However get 20-30 per day and you start move the variance in your favour. Thats my goal anyway, do the volume.
Just a few more things i'd like to share. Poker journal for iphones a great app for keeping your records. Also the one story that got me inspired this year. A few years ago my brother played a regular tourney down at the local. He took it down once and cashed several times. Another guy he played with won it a few times and following a trip to see ricky hatton in vegas, played in tourney there and won a ticket to the world series. Went and cashed for $250,000. Turned pro and the rest is history.
His name........Sam Trickett. Check out aussie millions Jan 2011. Dreams do happen.
