My Quest to RebuildI recently cashout all my roll on Stars and Tilt as requirement for a stake. I'm only allowed to play large fields MTT on those sites. But sometimes NOT even min cashing for days or weeks will get to you just because of the massive variance and bad beats you will get time and time and again playing large field MTTs.
I recently found out about tagpoker and it is an incredible site, thanks so much brokerstar. I already watch all of of the low stakes video in the site to help me build my BR and get proper coaching once my roll can afford it. The mid stakes video, well have not watch it yet. Not ready for that until I build my roll up.
So I decided to try Heads-up for the following reasons:
1) You only have to beat 1 person per game as opposed to last longer against thousands of players in MTT.
2) Develop my post-flop game. Because playing against 1 player on 1 or 2 tables will enable you to focus and concentrate intensely on the games. In MTTs, you are playing 5 to 10 table and trying to figure out how to outplay postflop 45 to 90 players.
3) Min-cashing is NOT important on MTT. What is important is getting to the top 3 position then shipping it which means being good in heads-up. In SNG MTTs the stack are very shallow by the time you reach HU both players are short stack and in push-fold mode. But in large field MTTS come HU it is not uncommon that both players will have 50 blinds or even 100 blinds. It is NOT push-fold yet so it is important that you are good in HU to ship the tournament. Shipping a large field MTTs will increase your ROI thousands of %. However, getting HU DOES NOT happen that often so once you get there be better prepared in order ship the tournament.
So, I reactivated my account in UB and what do you know. I got $5.50 on it and that is where I'm going to start. So far i'm 2 for 4 and one of the lost I got I did not even realized that the game has started so I ended up losing being blinded down. lol....
Will try to regularly update my progess......

BR @ 8.75 little swingy but hanging on.
I guess I'll be in the $1/$2 for a while. The rake on this buy-ins are horrible. Need to get to the $5 games soon.
About $100 BR should be good for the $5 games. Right ?

Yep. Don't play $2's till you've got at least $20, and be prepared to drop back after 2-3 games.

my goal is to at least play 10 games a day 1 tabling.
I usually play 6-8 tables large field MTT and/or MTT-SNGs and be able to do this 8 to 12 hours. other players do much more
Anyway, how do you sustain your attention ? I seem to have a hard time considering the experience I have on MTT.
Do you feel like it's better to play 3 hours straight to complete 10 games or maybe 1.5 hours on 2 diff session or 1 hour on 3 diff session ?
Any suggestions is highly appreciated.
Regards

I used to 4-tables 6-Max Cash games. Now I'm one-tabling HUSNG's, also setting the goal of playing (at least) 10 games a day. Still, I maintain some flexibility, as some days is better to play less or not at all and compensate with other days where I "overplay", due to being on a heater, getting alot of great action, feeling great and confidant, or whatever.
Find whatever works best for you, is challenging but achievable, but don't forget to give yourself room to breathe and be willing to experiment with different methods as to find "the one".
Hope it helps.
Take care.

Short sessions for sure. It's amazing how different HU is from MTT's/STT's. You need to concentrate so much more to get your reads and determine the player type you're against etc, and watch to see them adjust. You can't multitable them (well...not really) either, because you're always making your move, and you play so many hands (like 60%+).
