Mockingbird, Wish Me Luck

Hello everyone.

I'm 26, been playing for about 6 months now, I started of as a losing player online and as a winning player live, and although I have been recovering slowly from those online losses, I'm still negative.

As for live, my winnings do not cover my online losses, but as I'm recovering slowly, I'm about a break-even player overall right now.

I feel I'm a better player live simply because I tend to spend more time thinking about each hand. Online I feel there's little time to do so, which leads me to make more mistakes. Still, I've been playing NL10 on 6Max, where I have been a consistent winner with 10k+ hands played.

I've been studying on a Portuguese poker school. I feel that school has great pro players, Joćo Barbosa (winner of the  EPT Deauville HighRoller €5.300 6-max) being the biggest sounding name, but at this point, half way through the course, I don't feel that that school style fits me the best, as they teach a standardized style, not considering situations or players types (supposedly they will later on the course).

I've been watching all the free videos I've been able to get my hands on from this site over the past few weeks, implementing it in my game, and I have felt an improvement on my game, so I have been thinking of taking this course instead and I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

I'm always up to study the game, I've read a few books on it (Doyle's SuperSystem, Mike Caro Poker Book of Teels, Gus Hansen Every Hand Revealed and others as such) and I'm hoping to keep improving my game.

Finally, for some of my weaknesses, I find that when the effective stacks are about 12BB's or less I make a lot of mistakes, the same is valid if the pot has a similar value to the effective stacks, my raises are somewhat "one size fits all", and I'm sure there are others.

P.S. By the way, what do you recommend? The free option or the condensed course? And where do you think I should start? Should I first watch all the videos and articles available for free here and then move to the course, do you think I should mix it up, or maybe start with the course and then move to the free stuff?

you should place ur skype addy in ur profile, people get together on skype and discuss strats. i did the condensed course which was very good but people i have spoken to say that the full course is so much better just because you have brokers insight right there for any questions you have, i would do the course 1st then watch the free videos because what broker teaches you in the course really complement what he is saying in the vids. it will give you a much better of understanding on how to crush the heads up sngs

You have more time than you think to make your decisions online, so many people don't use it, they just mash buttons. I have done a fair bit of button mashing in my time, and it usually ends up in a cliff like drop on my graph.

PokerStars is a good site for time bank, as you get 60 seconds, and it auto starts. You also get 15 seconds anyway, which is more than you think. The main things is to slow your self down, and utilise the time.

Yeah, I know how you mean - that 'BEEP!' that goes off always terrifies me and makes me panic and rush. Lately I've been trying to read things through and I'm pleased to say it's been going quite well. Have managed fairly accurately to put players on hands, and it's resulting in more profits Smile . I'm sure you'll find the same will happen for you.

To anyone who knows: Is there a way of turning the beep off on FT/Stars? It puts me off and makes me panic.

You're undoubtedly right, I'm sure. I've been trying to use more of the time, but sometimes it's like I lose it.

i did the full course and loved every minute of it. i recommend it completely. it changed me from a break even player to an online crusher. broker dosen't stop until you are a winner. just do as he teaches and u will do just fine.
