if you call flop, you should also call turn..

Hi guys,

plenty of time when someone posted a hand, another person says:

you call flop so you have to make at least call turn (when it is blank).
I don't really understand it. Sometimes I call flop because I believe I'm ahead but I also hope that my opponent won't make another bet on turn, that's why I call flop. If I face second barrel I just fold. I mean that in a lot of hands when someone just c-bet me I can give him really wide range, but when he did a turn bet - i have to change his range.
So what's wrong in thinking "I can make one call, and that's it" ?

Difficult to answer as this is a very generic question you have posted. However, if I was playing against you I would adjust and be double barrelling pretty much all the time.

If you are IP and opponent cbets, why not reraise for value if we are genuinely ahead? If you are OOP, why arent we leading the flop?

I know it was very general question.
But I have a lot of hands when I'm just ahead or behind and it is impossible to say where I really am. My hand is too weak to raise because only better hands will call me. That's why I'm just calling. Another bet on turn (if I don't have reads he barrels nothing and he didn't do it lots of times) makes me fold.

No matter what you do, just make sure you don't default to something without thinking why.

It's all about adjusting, so we are obviously not adjusting if we just mindlessly do A or B

If some villains constantly barrel flop and turn, then obviously calling lighter is an adjustment, but dont get the whole "if we call flop we have to call later" in your head, its just wrong thinking.

Often people fire one barrel and then give up later, so it becomes quite a viable strategy to peel flop late but if you know he barrels very often then you obviously can't do that.

What Chris said, never do anything always, otherwise you will almost certainly be making huge mistakes.

For example, if you play a player who you know (or have a very good idea) that always bets the flop, then checks the turn with his air, then you can call the flop with pretty much any two cards, and take him off it on later streets, however if you do this, and he bets almost pot on the turn, then you really shouldn't be calling with your weak hands, becasue you know he isn't doing it with air.

Because ur opponent still has to be able to call with worse otherwise u are better off calling to keep his range wider to induce bluffs or value bets from worse.
