i'll call your all-in with any two cardsJust for fun guys!
Could you ever see youself calling an all-in with any two cards? Well you might if the blinds were so big in relation to the all in bet.
But consider this example.
Live HU against a nit who from experience you know will only shove with KQo+, AJo+ or any pair.
He will only call your 3-bets with slightly better than this range so you you keep pounding him and pounding him.
Only problem is you would like him to call your all ins lighter (against him you only go all in with a monster)
So eventually at blinds 100/200 the misguided villain goes all in for his last 400.
And you say "You know i reckon you have a really big hand, and it's not much to call and to honest in poker any two cards can win.
And the end of the day all this talk about maths and odds can't compete with the luck factor."
At this stage the villain is egging you on to call, but you say...
"Actually i have a pair myself so i'm definitely calling you...but I'll tell you what I'll do - I'll show you my pair and then take as my hand the top two cards of the deck and call you with those!"
The villain agrees secretly thinking you are an idiot and vows to call your all ins lighter in the future.
So is this a good move or a bad move from the hero?

I have no idea what you mean or want to accomplish by this, are you asking us if its better to have a random hand to call a 2bb shove or a pair?

He's asking if its long term EV to do something really stupid to create an image.

answerThe villain can almost never refuse this offer. From his point of view, a pair is slightly beating most of his holdings, which will be un-paired broadway cards. If he has a low or even medium pair he will be afraid that a higher pair has him crushed....
What he doesn't know is that the hero has 22.
The odds of the hero winning are 33% in this situation which, with pot odds is exactly 0EV but the right call because for the times you win you win the tournament.
Against any two random cards....the odds are the same!!
But as sausage guessed, the real play here is setting up an image which would hopefully pay out a massive +EV down the line!
(I've recently discovered Pokerstove lol)

just call

i feel tilted now. firstly, this would only apply to a live husng which basically don't exist. so a "longterm ev" in one that may occur is irrelevent. If its heads up in an mtt, you're likely not going to get HU with the same opponent again. longterm ev is again irrelevent.
thirdly, why make things difficult and try and adjust the way villain thinks when you can never know for sure. it's 2bb or w/e. just call.

That paragraph contradicts itself. You are calling cos maths can't compete with luck factor, but in reality, you have to call with any two, because folding for 2bb would be a mistake anyway.
Odd thread.

yeah, this only works when you have 22 - any other pair and you are losing value. And as i said it has to be in a live heads up situation. The situation is totally contrived - I made it up to fit with the situation I discovered messing around in Pokerstove - just for fun!

The chances of beating his range with 22 is 33%.
