No, in a way, if you are expecting all to play a simular style as broker, it doesn't. Broker plays a small ball style. Without knowing the site and video's completely, I only have seen a few and know one of the coaches who trained me a little personaly, they will have different styles of playing. Therefore, do not expect that all vids will be about a simular style. It however will never hurt you to see a video of someone playing a different style than yours. |

Didn't see this until now, so I'll give my take on this:
nachtwacht is correct that many instructors are going to play differing styles, at least in many ways. However, you will see a pattern with all of our instructors, as well as Brokerstar. They are similar in the fact that they particularly pay attention to their opponents and adapt in a way that they feel is best. If you're looking for specific people that play very similar to Broker, Cog Dissonance is probably your best bet. They both play what you might call a "small ball" style of poker, though I hate to use that term since both players will certainly make large value bets (or bluffs) when they feel it is the best possible play to make. Neither player restricts himself into a box of small bets or small pots at all times. Otherwise, the major difference between these two players and the rest of the instructors on the site will probably be preflop play, particularly button raising. I believe Cog and Broker prefer to limp a wider range of hands on the button more often than many of the other instructors from husng.com, though the other instructors certainly are not "the same" in regards to button raising frequencies, adjustments and play. For example, I often find spots where I believe it is best to be minraising my button, even with up to 100% of hands (the best example is against somebody who is folding, particularly late in the game, way too often and not 3betting nor even calling me enough to make up for the amount of times that they fold). I do this at times as deep as 75bb and as short as 8bb (though under 10bb is often rare, 10-12bb a bit less rare but still probably uncommon, it all depends on the specific opponent). I hope that helps answer your question. Promotion is still on of course, we're always happy to work with Broker and the community and I'm personally a big fan of his low entry (free in so many cases) way to teach new players how to beat heads up sngs. |

Yeah, it's because of the videos. I haven't visited the forums there at all as a matter of fact. Have been too busy watching mersenneary's vids 
Also, you get to download all the videos directly to your computer, so even if your premium/standard membership expires you'll still have all the videos you downloaded. One thing they could have done to improve imo is to make the file names more organized. Many instructors there have a really unsorted way of naming their vids so it's hard to know the chronological order. Mers vids however are great. Vid names follow a mostly standardized format like mersvid1, mersvid2, etc. Wish everyone followed this standard. Also, I would like to see download links to larger portions of the video library. Instead of having to download each video manually one should have the option of, for example, download every video by a specific coach. These are small issues however:) Forced, you should really get a premium subscription and download their video archive. It's really neat and I'm sure it would do a great deal for your game. Most likely change your outlook as well and by extension perhaps bringing you out of the rut I know you've lately been having. I know that after I have watched a few videos, I start to appreciate poker again. I start to think more consciously about my decisions and caring less about outcomes. With mers vids I have a tendency to pick up his outlook on poker.. which is great to say the least:) |
