How would you play?

Hey guys, Played against this player today 3 times so had a very good read on him. He was a loose passive player, limping but raising his better hands. He just lost a big pot and the next 5 hands he started to raise his button and re raised me twice (which he rarely done before) then this hand came up. Would you be calling or prehaps just flatting pre?

Fact is i think i could have waited for a better spot because he was very easy to play and i didn't need to risk a race.

I'd call. Too strong of a hand! You might be beat but if you always call this I'm sure you will make money. If he's been getting more agressive def a call for me...You still got half a stack too if you loose...

I'm normally calling but because i felt my edge was so great over him that i didn't need to risk it and wait for a better spot.

Yeah, and then a few hands later, You are sitting with AK, exactly the same thing happens and he shows up with 78, and hits his 8. Now would you think folding 9s was waiting for a better spot ?

Okay that may not happen, but it's just an example of why it is always best to take a + EV decision.

Id call too. Even if he has aks, you're still ahead. Just a little, but you're ahead. Never pass up a +ev spot.

Ok cool. Just wasn't too sure. Thanks for the replys. some guy just shoved all in first hand with A4 against my AK and wins! good stuff!!!

What on earth could be the reason for flatting 99? You have the best hand like...virtually all the time, I dont know the exact percentage but a crapload of flops completely devalue your hand to 2nd pair or even 3rd pair and he can shove a ton of hands worse over your 3bet where you have 55% to 80% equity.

Against a guy that NEVER calls flops with less then top pair, is ubertight preflop and will never shove 88 over a 3bet I can understand. But this guy obviously isn't that extreme.

Same here.

Kim: It's not only about having the best hand or not. It's also about your gameplan. And 22-99 can be quite hard to play OOP in a 3-bet pot. Flatting those deep and shoving those shallow are easy, but 3-betting them deep will often get you into trouble.

I wouldn't say 26bb , is deep to be fair.
