HEM and possible computer problemsHad a nasty little virus (Malware) which almost destroyed my computer. Have manageed to resolve it now I think anyway.
Since sorting my computer out, Holdem Manager will load, but none of the panels show on it, like it's just a blank page in the colour of Holdem Manager, with database options at the top. Occasionally a bit of the information will show, but can't use any of it.
Have done all the maintenance in PG admin, not worked.
Any ideas computer boffins ?

Can you actually get into HEM itself ? Check reports etc. ? Or is it to do with the database not loading ?

It's odd, cos it loads the database up as such, but you can't do anything with it, it's either a text-less HM screen, or there is bits of it there, but you can't do anything with it, ever so odd.

First thing to try is uninstall, use CCleaner, then re-install HEM.

Problem is I have like 4 years worth of play saved in there, and I don't really wanna lose it, and I can't back any of it up, because it's not possible. (Yes I know I should have done it before)

Why can;t you back it up? Should just be able to copy/paste the database file(s) no? Or the hand history files at least, then load them into HEM once it's reinstalled? I don't really know if that's how it works, just throwing out ideas that sound plausible

All those HH should have been saved to your HMArchive folder. You will be able to re-import from there. Will just take ages thats all.

Don't worry about losing your games, after you reinstall tell HEM to import from C:\HMArchive and you'll be fine - if you have any HUDs make sure you have those backed up - should be a file in your HEM folder with .xml at the end and the name of your HUD at the start. Move it out the HEM folder before you re-install.

Okay thanks, will give it a go.
Was looking at HEM 2 as a future purchase, looks pretty good, was just gonna give them some time to iron out the inevitable bugs that usually come with a new programme. Looks like some really good new features on it though.

Why ? Just cos it's not finished, cos it's different and your not used to it? Or cos there is some real fundamental problems with it ?

to be fair its most likly because its not finished, but it still has alot of import issues and its sooooooooooooooooo slow compared to HEM1
also its seems really unituaitve, things that should be staright forward and were in HEM1, just seem hard to find now etc...

Yeah, just what I thought, give it a year or so, then it will be the best programme ever I reckon. Holdem Manager was a breath of fresh air when it came out, but it was starting from scratch not trying to be better, and it was still filled with bugs.
