Hello...again!

Hello all...again!!!

I’ve around for some months now, but I gradually stop spending much time on the forum and got pretty much away from here for a time (it’s not easy to work and finish a master degree at the same time Razz)

A little bit of my (poker) story. I started playing HUSNG a year ago and miraculously found the tagpoker page. I started watching some vids (broker was in the beginning of his “this is how we roll” serie) and started to think more about the game, or at least , with some good information to study the game.

I took broker’s apprentice course and I started making money pretty fast, I improved my game a ton and things were going really smooth.
After finishing broker’s course (I started the course around game 1100) I had a devastating downswing…first just variance, but after that I had some tilt issues and played a lot of games with a “scared money” mentality, not having much confidence in my game…

I always respected my BR management and quickly went from the 20’s to the 6’s games (I had a stretch of 24 consecutive losing games!!!! ouchh!!!).  Ok, that’s it for me…withdraw the remaining money of my roll, enjoy life and gg poker. Took some 2 weeks vacation and then started to study hard, trying not to play any game, just reading and watching vids. Started to understand what was wrong with my game and decided I should switch to a more “2+2” type of game, raising almost all my buttons,  being more aggressive, using NASH, etc…and it worked. It was a little bit more stressful, with huge variance, but it kept me moving up again (around game 1500).

It is without a doubt the best strategy to be a winning player at HUSNG’s, but it will work much better if you can put a lot of volume (trying to “smooth” variance a bit), don’t tilt easily and more importantly if you are up against a thinking player and those are very, very rare at the micro levels (I know everybody at this level are fish (me included) but some of them are really brain dead).

Time to study again…I want to get back to my old game. Review all of the notes I had from Broker’s lessons, review again all the videos from tagpoker and just play calm. And it really works. Nowadays, I’m trying to get to some more advanced game concepts, trying to be a little bit more aggressive and trying not to autopilot every game. And this is my last month (1st of September is around game 1750) playing 10’s  and starting to try out again the 20’s:

So, after this long long story I just want to say that fortunately I now have a little bit more time off my day job, and I can spend more time around the forum. I hope that I can contribute with some hands to start discussion. I’m still a fish, so I can’t start giving advices to everybody, but I think it’s time to give back to the community all that Broker gave to me.

Good luck at the tables!!

Edit:Do not want to sound douchy, I am not trying to pass my results as brag (I think that the sample sizes are not big enough to define me as a winning/loosing player), just trying to emphasize the benefits from Broker’s course and study material.

I think you're far too modest my man.

Good to see you back and glad the work we did in the coaching is still bringing in the money for you.

I think after 2000 games with results like yours, it's probably quite likely that you're a winning player.

Again, glad to have you back.
