Game ReviewHey Broker, had a search for some posts about reviewing games/sessions and was wondering have you thought about putting something together, maybe video for some of us wanting to develop that side of the game ?I know its one thing to go over a hand/game, but am interested in thought processes when putting something into place. Just looking for some guidance i suppose on what could help to become a good system of working on our game away from the tables. How do you select which game ? Do you go over all hands ? Or biggest losses ? Do you add notes to the villain for future reference ? What sort of notes, if any, do you do to correct it for future play ? What are your goals from doing this each session ? |

I'm not Broker, but I'm adding some of my thoughts/stuff I've read.
How do you select which game ? - It's best to either go a game you struggled in, or if you have none in particular you want to review, pick one completely at random. Do you go over all hands ? Or biggest losses ? - Going over biggest losses only is stupid. You should go over all hands to find the small leaks which come up time and time again, and lose you $$$. Do you add notes to the villain for future reference ? - It'd be stupid not to. What sort of notes, if any, do you do to correct it for future play ? What are your goals from doing this each session ? - To review/evaluate your play, and pick up on errors/leaks? |

"How do you select which game" I don't review every game, just would take to much time. If you think you have none in particular you want to review, you are kidding yourself. Losing games are always good to go over, you will make mistakes in games you win no doubt, but it's always good to know why you lost. You may well have lost down to complete variance, but usually you wont have. Every session I play, there will be at least one player that sticks out that really annoyed me, I will mark it to look at later. "Do you go over all hands?" Yes, I will go through a complete match, that way you can spot reads you missed, and get a feel for the opponent as well. That said, I always mark hands in Hem, that I want to look at later, so I will look at individual hands too. Looking at big pot hands only probably isn't the right way to go about it, at the same time, bigger mistakes cost you more $ so they are more important, even if the small ones do matter. If you cut out the big mistakes, the little ones will take care of themselves. "What are your goals from doing this session" To spot mistakes, to think about hands, and poker in general.Keep the mind focused . To improve as a poker player. |
