Full Tilt Collapsing??

Full Tilt Poker lose European gambling license

I've just read this news article as well as not being able to log into Full Tilt. I'm wondering if something similar is going to happen to Pokerstars as they are often mentioned together in these things. Now I have an idea of how the Americans must be feeling.  Mad

Full Tilt Poker have lost their Alderney Gambling license. The news follows the announcement in April that both Full Tilt Poker and Pokerstars had been closed down in the USA following an FBI investigation.

The decision by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) has come into effect immediately, with all of Full Tilt's activities that are operating under their Alderney Gambling license suspended.

The AGCC said in a statement this morning: "The decision to suspend these licenses follows a special investigation prompted by the indictments unsealed by US Attorney General’s Office in the Southern District of New York on 15th April 2011, during which grounds were found to indicate that these licensees and their business associates were operating contrary to Alderney legislation."

Twitter and Facebook were quickly swamped with messages from players, with reports that all games and chat functionality has been stopped - including many tournaments which were running. Players have also been unable to withdraw funds from their accounts.

The AGCC has restricted Full Tilt Poker from doing any of the following:

Register new customers
Accept deposits from existing customers
Allow existing customers to withdraw funds that are held in their accounts
Permit customers to participate in any form of poker game play or gambling transaction
A hearing is scheduled to take place on Tuesday July 26th in London.

I'm going to be doing some of my own investigations into the most stable rooms for European players to play on and will do my best to keep you all posted.

This is getting ridiculous. Probably going to withdraw my cash from pokerstars tonight. What do others think?

Feel for the guys who have money on FT.

If pokerstars goes down would UK players still be able to play on pokerstars.fr?

Pokerstars.fr will be fine (hopefully!) its already passed french legislation and is fully legalised so cant see any probs there

Ive withdrawn everthing from ps.fr except 10 buy ins just to be on the safe side. If something does go tits up at least I wont have money locked up for weeks on end.

The download page for FT.fr is missing and I cant connect to my FT.fr account.

It may be because I haven't updated the software in a while but usually it asks me to update straight away. Its looking bad for .fr

That's the reason I didn't play there but with all the silence from FT lately I decided to take my money out and stick it on stars this month until it blew over. Quite glad I did now.

They have a deposit bonus which gives you $10 every 170 points which is about $30 rake, it's over 6 months so you should have decent rakeback for at least half a year until you either find somewhere new or the FT shit ends.

Well, unless stars gets shafted too.

From a post about the recent shut down for anyone who has a PS.com and .fr account

Full Tilt still has not returned funds to its former customers in the United States, so today’s developments certainly do not help matters.  The company has been looking for an investor to inject it with $100-$150 million so that it can repay U.S. players, but now any potential buyers will be even more skittish.  And of course, now Europeans, Canadians, and all other Full Tilt players around the world won’t see any of their funds until at least after the July hearing.  They say misery loves company and now there is plenty to of it to go around.

To be honest, it has always been a far superior site than Full Tilt. Even if I actually prefered the software on FT, that's a minor thing. Customer Support, is always better on Stars.

There is no rake back, but if you are a serious player, you can make it pay.

I'm not sure whether Stars will be okay or not. Everything I have read about it, they seem confident they will be, but who knows in this crazy world.

f**k this...

I've only started to understand poker and as soon as that happens I've lost my 1k+ roll just like that.

Oh well, I guess I'll grind my stars roll of 44 dollars now......

could be worse, ur stars roll could be $12
z1s6arn

ahahhahhahah

$12 GO BEAR GO!

i simply cant believe this.. US players had fair warning that they couldnt play, the sites knew they couldnt play, not only were they risking US players money it seems they were risking EVERYONES.

Seems so clear now doesnt it?????

Life tilt, i had just built a roll over $300!! not a lot to some but a seriously huge amount of hard work went into me getting that!!

heres a link i found:

oh yeh.... roll on stars currently.... $10.15c
evprop

‘The decision to suspend the eGambling licence was in the public interest and, because of the seriousness and urgency of the matter, it required that immediate action be taken ahead of the regulatory hearing.’

Public interest???????????????
if they were thinking of the public then we would have got a warning to withdraw funds from a site that was about to be taken down which in turn doesnt protect players money by keeping it seperate like PS!!!
chesslw

Well I never deposited... and played freerolls for lols until I had money. So I've only just wasted all this time spent on poker  Evil or Very Mad

I'm gonna be so tilted playing the micro stakes again that I don't think I am a profitable player on Stars. It used to be a roll for me to lose some steam.

ffs this feels worse than my worst downswing.

Just wish I had withdrawn more than 50% of my roll from FT.

I'm genuinely feeling bad for you guys. This process is not fun to go through trust me. I hope you can get your money back in a timely fashion. I feel Stars is the best option by far right now, and has been for a long time.

On the FT vs Stars thing, I've just never gotten to ther point where Stars have shown their worth for me. I can't commit serious time to hit the serious volume to rack up VPP/FPP to hit the cash bonuses. I never really used the VIP stores on either site & never had the need to contact support on either sites. RB was a big benefit to me on FTP because I had a constant trickle of funds coming into my account.

As for the security of Stars, looking at the news it seems everything is fine, but then they come out with press releases that end with "We will continue to operate as a responsible corporate citizen" and I think it's all just good PR. There isn't much doubt in my mind FTP & Stars committed bank fraud or at least broke the law relating to UIGEA.

Yes, but the most important point is that it seems pretty clear that Pokerstars segregated player funds whilst FT did not.

stars is a great company. been lots of warning sign for ftp guys to get money off
doodiewiz

Looks like Pokerstars are are licensed by a different authority and they're saying PS's license is intact:

I've only got a small roll anyway compared to some of you guys so just going to leave mine on for now...

no idea why anybody is worried about stars at all

I guess if anyone has alot of money tied up on any poker site right now, they must be a little worried about the way things are going. Obviously the sensible thing is to not keep huge amounts of money online at all if possible.

From Scott Matusow's Blog: http://scottmatusow.com/blog/2011/06/29 ... d-out-why/

As most of you know, FTP had their europe license pretty much suspended until a hearing set for July 26th can clear this issue up. However, Jack Binion has expressed a real interest in coming in and buying out Ray Bitar’s shares of FTP. The Gaming license has been primarily suspended because of Ray’s pending indictment. Take note as well, Ivey has withdrawn his statement from his website concerning his pending lawsuit against FTP. I have heard Jack wants to bring FTP back to The USA market, and if he steps in, that will happen once the pending regulation legislation is passed in Congress.

Sources tell me that it will pass, and as well, the bills will be amended to allow credit card deposits. This equates to FTP paying all of The USA customers and entering back into the USA Market. Remember, the indictments are not against FTP, but against Ray and the other guy there (forget his name atm). Once they are gone, FTP is “clean”. There is more I cannot say at this time. I would like to, but know this; You all will get paid, and Jack Binion will likey buy the controlling interest of FTP to make this happen.

Now, do any of you really think, not react with emotion over this, but THINK that Howard, Ferguson, Bloch, Ivey, and others wish to never be able to play in a poker game again, and even want to play poker to try to grind a living? That they just want to walk away from making up to 1 million dollars a day from rake from FTP? What would you do out there? Cut and run, declare Bankruptcy, try to make a living playing poker when YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SHOW YOUR FACE without risk of being beaten up, killed, etc? I know a lot of you are emotional over this because you have a lot of money tied up on FTP.. That is totally normal to be freaked over this. Now, take a breath and think about stuff with logic. FTP is the 2nd largest site in the world. They aren’t UB which took a huge hit over the Russ Hamiliton fiasco. This happened to FTP because they chose to let Ray handle things, and Ray handled stuff badly. This is why RAY, not Howard or the others, IS INDICTED! Jack Binion, do any of you think he is stupid? Do you believe Jack would come in, Buy FTP controlling interest, then screw all the American players he wishes to eventually serve? I really again, would ask all of you to logically think this out. Again, I know it sucks arse to be stuck money, and when it comes to money, we all get emotional over it, especially in this case. It is not that I am asking people to have faith FTP will pay. I am asking all of you to use logic so you can feel a bit better about getting paid. People who know me know that I have always been critical of FTP. My Brother has even got pissed off at me for “bashing on them”.. I try to be fair and logical, I try to get info on this. For your own sanity, please think the current situation totally thru!!

So did Lehmans Brothers
BetMagicMoney

FWIW guys stars will be fine, there under a different gambling authority therefore not under the FT problems right now. Also the isle of man gaming commission gave them the all clear back when the black friday stuff happened, i wouldn't be worried in the slightest.
bridgegunner

AGREED stars has been the way to go for safe gaming for sometime. ftp was run by some crooks y do u think so many pro`s jumped ship when black friday went down. ftp has some of the best software and best game set up around. if jack binions buys ftp and bring it into the usa he will be light years ahead of any competitor he might have in the market. take out the idiots running ftp and insert a multi billionaire and his roster of managers and ftp will challenge stars as the biggest online card room again.
