Free Video recording software???I am planning on making some videos of my play for the site. (for my own benefit cos I'm selfish like that) (joke)
I have a Viddler account, but the software I usually use , cam studio, just makes ridiculously large files, or if I mess with the settings, it all fudges up.
Any help appreciated
Cheers

It should be possible to use settings that make small files... one simple change is that you can do, for example, only 5 frames per second. This will reduce the filesize significantly. For poker you don't realy need 25 frames per second.
Ofcourse, the compression you use will also have a big impact on file size...
Another software package, little harder to set up but with more controls is debut video.
Last, after recording with camtasia studio you could also recompress the recorded file. You can use something like "Super" for it or "virtualdub".
Easiest though is to just set up your recording software correctly.

Yep, that's the part I have no idea about, I'm just no good at that kind of stuff. I do try, I have googled it several times, but never got it right.

increase the key frame size to 200 and reduce the FPS to 15.
Also make sure your not recording your entire screen as obviously that makes a bigger file
try that and see what happens.

There is a video on DC which shows you how to set Camtasia up to make small files. It used to be one of their free vids, but I have a feeling you might need a sub to watch it now.
