Hey all boys n girls.

This is not going to be a husng or nl cash game thread Very Happy

I have had a Br Thread before which didn't end well if you can find it , then please don't read it Very Happy

so after a brag post on here. I got advised to start a br thread for my fixed limit adventure. NOTE: Im not only going to write about poker in this blog. Also thoughts and feelings i have regarding life and poker. etc etc.

So here we go I promise ill try to update it when i can , probably once every week or when i feel like it. So my poker story. Yeah can be said short. Ive tried everything besides plo and any draw games. As you may realize/be thinking , ive tried husng didn't end so well. I never really got the hang of it. To be perfectly honest. I probably didn't studied enough and everything. so that and tilt is the main reasons why it didnt work out. So then i tried nl cash. i played a lot of rush and had a huge swing up +$70 ish to lose more than -$40 . I took a break.

I was playing on Full Tilt at the time. I decided NL is too much for me and my tilting. Ive busted my 50 dollars bankrolls more than i want to tell you. Its too embarrassing. Smile

Then i saw Fixed Limit Holdem on FT lobby. and said "Hey why not try that. seems that fixed limit bets could help me with my tilt problems. Id give it a shot at least. I love poker and dont want to quit and i want to win at something"

So i tried it and found it funny and interesting. But what the hell the guys calling with 73o and hitting their 1 card straights on the river calling down to my AA. wtf !!! arghh. I decided after lots of talk with broker and others. that i had to change my view on variance. I needed to get more detached from the variance and money involved. I worked hard on my anger problems in real life. I worked hard to change my view from "whatthe*biip biip biip biip* 20 minutes later *biip biip biip* " to "wow he calls with that. Then im gonna bet all streets again with top pair again and again."

Basically have a deviation of the philosophy as the pros who can win at this great game .. Bear in mind i still can get upset after a bad streak of cards and losing a buyin or two due to 1 card straights backdoor flushes etc etc. You know the deal. But then i find a cigaret and a few kisses from the missus helps a lot Very Happy

Then back in the action. Okay so i began playing Fixed Limit after having watched bankroll management videos and a few live play videos and strategy .. It seemed to work for a little while. Then down and down. I will give you this graph so you can see how i was doing. I have already posted it in my brag post but im going to post it here once more.

At the time i started this graph FT had closed and i had moved to Stars. I was so close to deposit 50 dollars on FT just a week before it shut down *phew* still waiting for my $51 i withdrew after Black Friday -.-
when i had lost those -$31 i decided that i needed help. I went on PokerStrategy and found my coach for Fixed Limit at the start of this summer vacation (6 weeks) He helped me incredible much. He even encouraged me and told me "we don't want you to play micro stakes. Lets get up to the midstakes where i play so you can earn some decent money." midstakes FL is $5/$10 - $10/$20.

My initial goal was to reach at least $1/$2 but hey midstakes sounds fine too hehe. So after having lost most of my bankroll i couldn't afford to be playing $0.05/$0.10 So had to move down to $0.02/$0.04 and i have done great , earned myself 10 buyins after a little 7 buyin downswing. Throughout the 4 lessons i got from my FL coach. I finally had the bankroll for my "regular" stake 5c/10c and i hit a lovely upswing. While i have been studying like crazy , watching videos , posting hands, analyzing hands. everything i could and can get my hands on about FL i want it and study it.

I hit the sweet spot as i would call it. I just "figured it all out" went on a great upswing and have been going steady up since. I know the sample is nothing but from being able to play 100 - 200 hands per day i think i have stepped my volume up quite a bit to 500 - 1000. So i dont want to divide my 2c/4c and 5c/10c so im gonna post my overall graph from i started getting the coaching until tonight.

So this is as far as i have come to for now. I am going with a 500 big bets bankroll management so $50 for 5c/10c and 10c/20c i would need a $100 I'm like a little over or exactly halfway. So to end it all I really hope some of you wants to read all my stuff and future posts and give a reply or two Smile

Going to fixed limit to cure tilt is a band-aid and not the solution, you should play what you want to play and try to cure your tilt.

well Chris, What i wrote there was my thoughts back then when i started, Thats what i thought when i saw Fixed Limit tables in the FT lobby. I just happened to fall in love with it and as you see i am becoming more and more successful at it. Due to the fact that i love it so much and try to work on my game as much as i can.. Now i dont play it to cure my tilt problems. Now i play because i genuinely love the game of Fixed Limit. My views on many things have changed. Smile

good luck with this - I remember when i started playing I used to short stack now an again 10/20fl the prob I found is there is a huge difference between FL and NL so if you are ever thinking of switching back I would choose your stake wisely

siminitt - im never going back to nl not as long as i can avoid it. Smile

and ofcourse 10/20 FL is far from 10/20 NL. FL and NL is two different games. thats like going from nlh to plo. two different games. Ive been here long enough to know that 10/20 FL isn't the same same stake nl. just like husng is much much different from hu cash.

So a quick update. I have moved up to 10c/20c with the help of my friend giving me the last 10ish bucks to move up. As you know im doing the br management 500big bets. So this was my first day of playing 10c/20c i had a really awesome day to be honest. I made some good decisions. I still have to get used to the swings are bigger. Like $2.50 is the 25 big bets buyin at 5c/10c but this is now normal to lose 2 dollar in one huge hand. and with a 25 big bet buyin which is 5 at 10/20c .. Yeah but i think im handling it well .. Only writing this is because ive had tilt issues and want to document here that i make progress on my weakest talent in poker.

So its all great and shit. I think im making better decisions overall. and I think i finally have developed an edge over my opponents at 5c/10c (small sample i know i know) but it seems so easy now compared to before i got my coaching. where i felt lost. Maybe confidence is the key to crushing ? perhaps, but confidence is a damn good feeling to have when your playing a game like poker. The mental side of poker is just as or even more important than actually knowing that donk bet from a 70/0 fish means top pair or better. especially when you have with Fixed Limit micro stakes .. They call everything. So be prepared for crazy suckouts and so stupid play your stomach will hurt Very Happy

Id be interested in learning this. Can you let me know where you started off for resources etc? And also the name of your coach and what his rates are for 4 hours of coaching.

When i first started out I played FL and found it enjoyable till I moved over too NL so would be interested in challenging myself to learn this gametype properly since going from the 1s to the 100s for a challenge in headsup, would be more a sideline activity for me since I trade mainly now but would be good to good to succeed in this too.

I just have to warn you. If you start playing FL at the lower stakes your gonna be tested a lot. your patience and sanity when they call with J9 on a 56K board to go and hit the 7 turn and 8 river. A lot Razz

i can valuebet flopped middle pair 3 streets they will call with down to queen high because yeah well i dont know. maybe they just dont believe you have anything and play worse cards than queen high.. and they never learn

Okay .. So its been a few days since i last wrote in here and ive played a few hands. First of let me say to you. The mental side of poker is REALLY important. and i am beginning to believe the graph is an indication of the two aspects, playing well and feeling well. those two combined is your graph. The last week i have had quite a concern regarding something personal which has affected me GREATLY during the time. Now its all solved and good again and i can finally relax and smile again.

Why am i saying this. I'll tell you. I had a big session one of the worst days of my life. that resulted in a 100 big bets downswing / losing session at my new limit 10c/20c. Yack .. Felt sick afterwards. Promised myself only play when i feel happy. not because i "must grind" - see thats the problem with those hell long sessions, as many mtt'er might agree with. at some point after 5 - 6 hours. you don't really want to play more. Especially if its not going well. Then why not make small productive sessions instead of one big monotone session. You know?

Well heres proof of how my week was. according to what i wrote above regarding the graph shows your emotions.

I am having an epic recovery. and heading to the skies again. I am starting to feel comfortable in my new limit finally. even though it doesn't sound much going from 5c/10c to - 10c/20c . Its a huge deal for me since its my first REAL time im moving up a stake with my own hard earned money no cheating deposits or going nuts in a 50 dollar husng or any of that shizzle. Really first time moving up after grinding thousands of hands (i know only 15k) it says but in reality i got like 15k hands hidden/purged in my db. so im up at 30k hands in my db over my own play. AND im rated an Eagle Very Happy

SO ive been quiet for a looong time. mainly due to work and not enough volume. so since last time its been really weird. Ive had a downswing which put me all the way down the 0 line. Ive moved from stars due to it being a sucky site to micro grinders. and moved to an ipoker site with 40% rakeback

In 30k hands of 5c/10c i couldn't clear the 10 dollar bonus at stars
in 3500 hands at my ipoker site. i earned like 8 dollars.

so im going to stay at the ipoker site until my br hits 600+ where im ready to play 1/2 .. due to the lack of action at ipoker im moving back to stars where it also becomes at least more profitable.

so im not posting a graph right now since i just got up. am sick still after a little flu and i got lots of work so next update.

another 40 BB loss.. really discouraging. so i went on tilt. got lucky .. spontaniously booking a coaching session with my FL coach. we talked i feel much better and ready to hit the tables. after i get some sleep though. this night 1 hour of sleep total. Its hard with 4 kids and a wife as a 22 year old Wink

Watch and learn ! woohoo. I just played a session without hero hud on and "tiltbuster" on aka a black window covering my name and stack as adviced by my coach. I think i played well and marked a few good hands.

All in all i have gotten my confidence back after a smaller breakdown the past two days. So im going to focus on solely referring my graphs as Big Bets or if you compare it to in No Limit. how many buyins etc etc.

So this is my total graph excluding all the few nl tables ive tried out for fun or whatever. This is purely on the 3 limits ive played the most. 2c/4c - 5c/10c and now 25c/50c .. across all stakes and those played hands / that graph tells me i have a big bet per 100 hands at 2.91 .. which im super excited about. wee hee. But to be honest a blind man could beat these players.

I am rather happy with how i improved as a player. and Ill continue working hard to reach my poker goal. Smile

Do you guys think its a good idea to set some hands played goals per week ?

if any of you are looking at the red line and thinking what the fuck.. I just want to say Fixed Limit is not a folding game. Its not a non showdown game as NL in my experience seem to be. FL is lots lots lots of calling. and especially at these stakes. I honestly think its impossible to have a redline doing breakeven or up.

Hey.. So ive been really into making "blog" posts. I feel like i dont know kinda. Its hard for me to stay disciplined about writing in a blog. But here i was browsing the other br threads and found it inspiring so decided to update my own only a day after my previous update. But donkey ass it.

So two things. Ive had a recent coaching with my Fixed Limit coach Leader .. Hes an amazing person. Really helpful and kind, Just like Brokerstar *wink wink* Wink

We talked about tilt and a few handhistories. He told me and we discussed a lot of things. Too insane to even mention everything if i had to i wouldn't be done writing this post by tomorrow. So The most important thing is that ive been result orientated and really lost confidence on my new limit after dropping 80 big bets within the first 3000 hands... doh! well he recommended me getting that tiltbuster and heroless hud. / removing hero hud from HEM while playing. works awesome for me, i focus more on the play i mark more hands i review more and more. normally i only do 1 hour.

today ive done 4 hours already and about to review my session i ended 15 minutes ago.. So the last two days after my coaching has been amazing. So heres some graphs to look at. As it is a fact people likes pictures more than text. Very Happy

and here i am writing a whole essay about everything and nothing. IM SUPER HAPPY and havent even been drinking red bull haha.

Lately i havent put in much volume. Like 1000 hands the last week. But with a daughter sick, on top of work and your own illness. Theres not much time for poker but nevertheless i got 1144 hands.

running like 1.67bb/100 at 25c/50c only. and some 3.50 at 5c/10c (thats probably rungood) but the players are lolcats lolbad.

I noticed people like pics so here they are instead of all the boring talk.

Sometime soon i will have a daily goal of hands . like 500 or something. Lets see how that works. Not yet decided on what it shall be.

FIrst of all I bought HM2 .. Its new so lots of "bugs" but that will sort itself out im hoping. It is a very cool program and rather easy to use already though you have to get used to it when you have been using HM1 for your whole career. but nevertheless heres a graph

feels like breakeven but overall im running at 3.26 bb/100 (big bets) which is nice as you know. Smile

So ive been playing a little, switching sites. Losing $10 alone just to be able to transfer my money from ipoker to pokerstars. Since most ipoker skins are gonna ban/exclude danish players by jan 1st. I decided to go back to stars and grind.

So the last few days ive been playing for a full hour - two hours. I only took like 30 minutes tonight since im soo tired BUT i took a full hour at 6 - 7 am this morning and my beloved daughter and ferret have been wanting my attention Razz

So i said i would post when i got 30k hands . I got 31k. weee. You have no idea how good it feels finally being able to get some volume in.. Grinding between 6 - 9 tables of 25/50c Fixed Limit on PokerStars. with TableNinja feels like a breeze. Im having so much fun playing and i feel i play well too. The past few days i started to pick up some volume ive had $20 and $30 swings. which equals to 50 - 75big bets swings. (normal shit) but still fun it doesnt bother me anymore. Ive been wanting/wishing for the day i didnt feel anything for the money involved. as i keep moving up.. Look at this from i started this "blog" at that time i was scared of 10c/20c .. Now i have no feelings towards losing any amount of money in the 25/50c games. Like in the sense. The pot size does not bother me at all. Midstakes here we come.

On friday , im getting off work until january (lucky me) so its grind time but then again wont be like 10 hours a day. My focus cannot do that plus the wife would probably beat me up if i did that Very Happy

btw. I know im too tight and 3betting too little. Im aiming for improving that so my stats would look like 32/28 3bet: 15ish. That would be my dream to be able to do that profitable. Then i wont be a complete nit at midstakes.

around the same as nl .. the highest winners at 15/30 - 30/60 and above is like 1 - 1.5(this is really really good)

Take a look at TPirahna on PTR.. Thats a good limit player.
