expensive bookHave any of you guys heard of/read the ebook by Cole South called Let there be range?
When it came out in 2008 it cost $2k... Personally I don't think any book should cost that much (it's free now online- pm me for read only link- although if you don't mind torrents then it's very easy to find).
Thoughts?

Yeah I know- saw the quoted reduced price (still horrendous).
Still it's actually avaiable as a torrent to dl- and like I said, if you would like to read it online (virus/adware free), I know of a link (though you can't download).
i'm not about to post it on a public forum.

Basically I just skimmed through it...
It's pretty good but not worth the price, and is pretty mathematical in its approach- mainly fixing "mid-stakes leaks" such as misconceptions about turning hand into bluff, showdown value, pot control etc...
The book tries to illustrate the ideas with some excercises you can do.
Like:
"next time you play, open a notepad and see how many times villain folds to a river bet (talking about people not bluffing rivers enough/firing 3 barrels)"
"next time you play, open a notepad and note down how many times you folded to a donkbet"
The book is basically aimed at winning midstakes cashregs.

Hmm... sounds like you just confessed to a crime...
Atleast, it is a crime overhere to download a book you have not payed for and then read it.
Some of the authors make a big deal about that. Shame on them ofcourse!

Yeah I have committed a fair amount of crime... Although I haven't downloaded this book. It's readable online so no need for dodgy torrents.
When I started to learn about poker I downloaded Theory of Poker, Mathematics of Poker, Harrington on Holdem (all of them)... I think not even using torrents (although I haven't really read any of them properly bar mathematics of poker since I found it interesting).

lol I understand where you are coming from. Mathematics of poker is a pretty bad book for someone looking to learn poker- for me it just gave me an understanding of the actual fundamentals of the game (the actual reason that you take a line in a hand etc). That, and the fact that I do maths lol.
The only thing from it that is of practical use is really the nash tables and bankroll management.
Maybe one day poker will be solved
A friend of mine who played limit HU on Stars said they were already having problems with there being bots playing online (beating the low-midstakes). And a while back there were a few bots playing on fulltilt micro stakes superturbos (fr and 6max).
