Early in a matchyou don't have a read on your opponent, and you get a big pair JJ+. You obv want some action, do you 4-5x? or just do a 3x?

probably just 3x but I guess it depends what stakes you are playing. At low stake vs a non reg (SS) you could may be get away with 4 or 5x and still get called. Pretty marginal situation in any case...

I like to just play JJ from sb as I would play any hand that I'm raising. 3x is fine and if you think that villain will call bigger bet then bet bigger. At early levels I want to keep the pot small unless I hit the nuts.
JJ is pretty vulnerable on most flops as A, K or Q will come to board.

This "problem" can actualy be "solved" (as far as you can talk about solved since you have to make some assumptions based on zero information) by doing some simple calculations wich is a very good excersize to get an understanding as to why you should do X or Y or Z.
1) Just Assume a range for what you think will be his calling range if you 3X and then calculate your "profit" making some assumptions on post flop play.
2) Do the same for 4X and 5X'ing.

well put nacht
early on (in the first 10 hands) i am usually very limpy and only raising premiums i like to 4-5x it just to test the waters as u dont know how light he will call u. if he calls u wide then u just added value to your jj+
i mean if u are the kind of person that likes to 3x all the time then stick with your normal raise amount u dont want them to pick up anything on u bearing in mind the guy has any sort of hand/bet reading skills

Plz stop thinking like this. U have like a top 3% hand. If they are a massive losing player make it 4x, if they r b/e to slight winner 3x and if they 3bet just jam it in their eye, watch them call u with 66 and AJs. Don't be scared of the overcard flops, play ur hands aggressively, establish an aggro image - profit. Rinse & repeat.

I'd agreee with this, although I tend to just raise 4-5x as standard early in the match at my current level ($5s) as players are terribad.
