Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Grading (Beating)

Ahhh man this weekend has been one that my body really wants to forget. Friday night I actually had to fight to get a belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I know you do in most BJJ schools but these guys just take it one step further than most.

Now there is a bit of history that led to me getting beaten quite hard as at one point I left Carlson Gracie team and went to train at another club but soon realised that it wasn't anywhere near as tough of a club and I eventually returned to Carlson's. Now when I was Thai boxing the idea of training at another club was no huge deal but the Brazilians don't see it like that, no to them I was a creante (kind of means I'm a traitor) and I was made to remain with my belt for an extra year as a punishment.

Long story short I rolled really well with everyone I had to face off against and then just as I was dying on my feet I was put in with a BJJ black belt who showed me just how little I really know by tapping me 7 times in one ten minute round. (gives me something to work towards).

After fighting until I nearly threw up I was then slammed by five black belts (one of which winded me) and following that I was finally whipped by the entire school until my back nearly bled.

To many this may sound like a beat but it's actually been one of the best weekends of my life. Most of the school hit the town afterwards for an insane amount of drinks, there were girls everywhere, free entry into night clubs and the party didn't end until the sun came up.

My body is so close to giving up on me now, time to recharge. Below are a few pics from day.

Sounds like a tough start to the night, congrats for the new belt, what colour have you got now? Also a little surprised you'd want to change club, from what I've heard the Gracies are the nuts.
