Bert's Course ProgressHi guys,
Recently joined and took the course and stated to put it into practice.
Had a pretty bad start, trying to get my head around adapting and trying the small ball style, then I hit some tilt and had to sort my stuff out again.
Running at 19.9% ROI at the $5's over the past 3 days (about 120 games) and 27% over the 45 $10 games I Played.
Maybe its something to do with pride, maybe its a sensible BR thing, but I want to grind my overall $5 ROI for this year back up to at least 15% before I move up.
I had previously played 30 BI moves, but I think that
1- I was too tilty for it and
2 - ultimately probably not good enough to sit back and recognise when Im beat
3 - simply not good enough, having forgotten my learning over the past year. So I would run bad (gamble too much) and tilt off the $300 in an evening.
Decided to employ a 40 BI strategy, If im beating the games, the number of BI I have to make before I move should be no issue for me at all, right?!

Hope to get to know you guys better and get stuck into the forum content moving forward.
Run good

Sounds like a nice start but my honest advice, with a solid strategy is to just move up as soon as your roll lets you and don't worry about past ROI.
Vanity is one thing but life is short so make the most money you can whilst being sensible for your pursuit (IMHO).
Good luck all the same dude.

Sigh,
After a long 28 match battle against some -43% loose aggressive crazypumpkin, i turn an ROI of 8.8%, net winning of 3 BI.
I feel I played well to start with, got sucked out on huge in 2 consecutive games, then played a somewhat erratic game until I pulled it all together and finally adjusted in the last 7 games to win 5 in a row.
In 80% of the games I had beat him down to a sub 700 chip stack at 15/30 to either get it all in flipping, or for him to get lucky 109 vs. J9 etc. hands.
I think some work needs to be done towards crushing the loose aggro opponents at the 25-35BB eff. stack sizes, they call wide, what can I do? They just keep chipping up donk bet leading flops where I just have to check fold.
Definitely did not adjust fast enough, there was an opportunity for around 8-10 BI from this dude.

I hear ya bro,
i got the same problem I fuond it very difficult to end the match when I get those LAG donks crippled to 10-25bb's. I've tried to adjust just to wait for hands but not sure if it's the rigth way. That way we prob will get in as fav but it just tilts me when they hit the board better and get back in the game.

update on the $10'sso after a horrific start moving into the $10 games I took a step back, un tilted my self and started teh grind back up, heres my results from teh past few days.

Thoughts
I still put myself in a lot of coin flip situations vs some gusy who quite frankly tilted me and the swings of up jsut trading buyins for 10 games ina row can and should rally be avoided.
I still need to adapt quicker and keep control of my emotions. All being equal, I honestly believe i should have had another 8-12 wins if I had kept my cool.
I have started to gel better with Brokers style, I still do notlimp as much as limping KQ and getting beaten by a 42 boat simply doesnnt wash well with me. I am finding bigger folds in my games and feel more comfortable with myself at the moment.
I hang my head in shame : http://weaktight.com/3135656

Yes mate the tilt aspect of the game can really cripple a players win rate, it's a huge deal. Learning to play your cards well for most is the easy part but if you can't keep a handle on your temper then it's all for nothing.
What exactly do you find tilting?

I guess it is a gradual progression into tilt for me.
I tend to find on bodog a huge ammount of players I play just limp call EVERYTHING - so when they limp call at 10x raise with K4o and flop 2 pair and I barrel them down with AK - its normally a good start to really rilling me. or calling down with an underpair to the board. You get the idea.
I have been wondering if they play like that vs. me as an adjustment, but I am pretty sure its just the way they play, I have watched other tables. Again its not their fault, its mine for not adjusting myself I suppose.
the sheer ammount of times I find AQ AK vs a pocket pair i find mind boggling (AIPF), poker is rigged etc. etc.
the 50% donk bettor, again the loose aggro players, playing 60% or more from the BB, then donk leading 3 streets with bottom pair & absolute trash - then I start to play very passivly aginst them and because I have no idea of thier range I cant find the heart to C/raise them or retake control of game flow.
Its a meantal thing I know, but Im guess I am not a good player either so I guess its swings and round abouts.
Been trying to find some games to record for our review, I think I might just record an hour of tables in a session tonight, unless I can find a particular game in my HH to review that I particuarly wanted you to sweat me on.
anyway im less prone to it now (for the moment at least), I think I am sarting to let go of my financial attachment to loosing 1 or 2 games and jsut letting variance take its toll while I focus on making better reads, playing smaller pots and controling game flow.
./rant over
I am admittedly getting better at managing tilt - but the 20BI swing when I moved up, has basically taken away my $200 profit I would have had to move up again. Its my own fault and I just need to be honest and work on it. I realise now I can crush the games, its all down to focus.

I feel your pain, and I was having similar issues before, when I was playing Betfair, I just didnt have the tools to counter the various styles nor the presence of mind to strategically adjust my game to what my opponent was doing.
Arguably if you have someone who is that loose passive, you just value bet the hell out of them with strong hands, and let them call you down.
You always want to avoid coinflips if possible, sounds obvious but by nature they are 50-50 and we sre striving for a 55+ ITM in order to both beat the rake and turn a profit. I found that by playing deepstacks I avoid a lot of the coinflip situations.
Hang in there buddy, keep studying and deploying stuff into your game and things will def come right for you

bodog hand grabber is borked, but the jist of it is some sick swings since the client upgraded, poker is rigged etc.
12BI downswing tonight was a bit of badplay, frustration, and some super run bad. clawed it back towards the end running pretty good for a few games.
I started on this forum at around the 1500 game mark, the huge down swings have been mostly tilt and retard play - this normally comes after 3-4games of suck outs.
still got a huge ammount to work on, I feel I am far too tight passive post flop, aggro in the wrong places and generally getting myself into bad spots I probably should not do.
If I can get through this I hope to turn a deent ROI at last and make some real ROI.

Try going back over your notes from the course. I found it useufl to make myself up little crib sheets for each style (no more than an A5 sheet) and have them next to my laptop, then I can quickly lookup my ranges and my approach to each player (I tend to re-read my full set of notes later on after a session)
This might help if you are being passive and aggro in the wrong spots

Ok, so been a while since ive posted much here.
Reason? I moved to AP and for some idiotic reason decided to play HU Cash. Now I used to win on sites like PKR and at BODOG, and win well except i had my old tilt habbits in the cupboard. Decided to give it a shot moving to the bigger site again.
Ran terribad against some fish and regs, and admittedly played bad in some sessions. Basically emptied my account ($1k) playing NL25 and NL10 and felt like crying.
Now ive gone back to HUSNG and am grinding it out from a $10 deposit, for the mental strengthening and belief in my game basically..
Im a video whore, have all of Prynniraiding, dogisheads vids, basically the whole DeucesCracked content and all of HUSNG.com - so you might ask why i loose so badly? I wonder also. I study alot, and reguarly. I think my hand reading and river play in Cash is not as good as in the SNGS, and because its cash, you get hit and run more frequently. Not to mention the rake..
Thinking playing SNGS through to a 2k roll then looking bacck into cash with a coach would be a sensible route?
I am kind of in the mind that inthe HUSNG format your skill edge will more often produce the win rate over time than a one hand suck out and insta leave by the regs / fish that simply cant stand the pressure.
I love the HUSNG format, but I have a huge doubt over my ability as a player if i cant beat the NL10cash Mental state or run bad aside.
Anyone play on Absolute? would be aces to get some sweat sessions organised if anyone dabbles with cash.
User name is DEEPAMBITION for the scopers out there, the sng's are so soft.
ps. im good at talking rubbish to no one, as i spend alot of time at home in silence, so I apologise in retrospect about this post.

What you saying sorry for ?
First thing, don't sit alone at home, get out there and live some life! I don't know your circumstances, but sitting in front of a computer 24/7 is not a healthy situation. Go for a walk, or whatever, just breathe some air man
I wouldn't try and master Cash and HUSNG at the same time. Which ever one you want to do, then focus on beating that game. Personally I would choose HUSNG, as there is enough information on this site for free to beat them alone. Where as you are going to end up paying for quality cash game training , videos etc. (unless you fancy 6 max, then speak to Brokerstar)
You will struggle to master both at the same time, focus all your efforts on one or the other imo.
