Bankroll restartStarting a new bankroll thread as withdrew bankroll off FT after the recent news and spent more then half it in the process of it sitting in my bank account for a week. So made a redeposit on stars of $300. Cool thing is I can be back playing the $15 games which i guess are the new 20s with $375 bankroll and 25 buyins. Playing the $7 games at the moment. There are so many fish on stars!!
Anyway here's my progress so far. Donked off 3 or 4 buyins at the beginning and I know it's not f**king alright:) Feel like i'm playing well now though and fighting for every chip....

Best of luck mate. You're right about donking off buy ins, not doing that alone will give you a much higher win rate than most regs.
Now crush it!!

Cheers mate. You're so right about winning those extra games by not tilting. I'm finding as I play more I'm becoming a lot more philosopical about the games and understanding if I play well then the money will come(thats a big if i guess), so I don't mind losing as long as I feel I'm playing well. If not I go and watch some videos to get back in the zone. Anyway all this seems to be getting my tilt under control and regular breaks defintely helps...

Hey thanks man!
So day 2 and ive already made the $375 to be rolled for the £15 matches. Might just work it up to $400 before I start playing those...Husng is so easy!! Well it is when you're running hot and playing this level. Played a guy with -80% ROI today. He just called anything apart from an ocassional fold on the river. He had me down 600 chips but cant say it was all that worrying. Call station strategy 101 came into effect:)
Waiting for the downswing...

ahhh wish i had more time to play poker...been playing the $15. Just the same as the $7s on pokerstars so far. Some reg has sat me 3 times with a 9% roi and I've won every time. Everytime he bluffs off all his chips. Just cbets too much especially when in position and double/tripple barrels with air! Sometimes i just chuck in a raise and he folds, but i get more value just calling him down.
Anyway

hi
I
understand the way you played the hand but it reeks of he has a pp and he is not folding
so you got 6 outs unless he flopped a boat
I think i would be a little more careful on flop
or be all in preflop
|
doodiewiz
|
yeah what you say makes sense, but how would you have played the flop? Maybe i should have given a few more details. He hadnt yet folded to a 3bet, so i didnt give him credit for a pp and if he had gg. I had also planned to shove some flops and thought i must have some fold equity! I just thought it was very unlikely he'd hit such a dry flop in any way. I thought perhaps the 3 bet sizing was too large pre, but i was getting greedy because i expected him to call. Anyway not to be results orientated but he showed up with a9 and rivered the 9 and declined a rematch...Not sure if this is bad play and maybe a bit of tilt in there, but man there are so many of these guys on Pokerstars!

It's not really orthodox how you set up stack sizes for your go and go, but against such a retard... You basically owned him. Nh Sir.

thanks Blazing. Yeah just trying to check my play here. I quite liked my shove. I think if i had 10,10+ here a larger 3 bet seems quite attractive if he's always calling. I also knew if i hit the flop i was likely to get a load of chips. TBH i mention tilt becuase I had been card dead and missed so many flops during this match that i saw ak and got excited...

I expect him to hero up with Ax alot of the time. I was in a similar situation with AJ and called a jam, afterwards I decided that calling this jam was horrible despite the result (Villain had QJ, and I held) since he's shoving alot of better As.
In your case I think shoving here on this board is the only correct play. PPs are rare. Ax is a much bigger amount of combo's even though you have AK. The times he has a PP you still have 6 outs, and he will fold a ton aswell. Your only really worried about 7x and A3.
I'm just wondering blazing: What size would you choose for 3betting to do this with? Don't you think that making it much bigger would tighten up even the biggest fish' range? I'd prolly still make this move 3betting to 240. There's a ton in the pot either way.

No what I meant was, the stack sizes are still quite large for a go and go from the off. Against a player with two brain cells to rub together, you can choose a different play. Against this numpty though, I see no problem with how it was played at all.

last upate for a while. Gonna check back in when i hit the 225 game mark. Had to really fight last couple of days as i hit a bit of mild variance, donked a couple off and seemed to play a lot of regs...really can't complain though:) Took a leaf out of Brokers book and played about 5 4 mans and won 2 or 3 which makes your roi look good...those are so soft seriously...really feel like my game is getting stronger!

Been running pretty breakeven for a while. Was playing like an idiot and was too lazy to sort it out. Don't mind running bad, downswings, breakeven etc as long as i'm playing my best. This was compacted by a bit of tilt and rematching regs for 5 games in a row. I shouldn't be complaining though. Just concerned when i loose focus and forget how to play...
Anyway nearing the $30 games. Once my BR gets to $900(30 buyins) i'll start taking shots. BTW you've got to love stars! Really there is no difference at this level from the $3.50. You just bump into a couple of regs every now and then:)

Quick update. Went on monkey tilt for a while and dropped a fair few buy ins, but managed to turn it around and get my game back on track. I tilt so much less nowadays i think because i recognise it earlier and usually stop, but every now and then the madness takes me...
Played 2 30's so far and won both. One against a tight nitty reg who i grinded down and another -25% fish. Any advice for playing the 30s? I've been watching a few vids at this level to see what i can expect. Seems like a bit of a jump for me now, but i'm going to stay patient and play my normal game:)

Play your normal game and no fancy play syndrome.
$30s are just like $10s and $20s. No difference. I actually personally found them easier when on FT.
When you have 300 games under your belt you'll desensitize and start poking your head around the $50s door.

Very hard to play your normal game sometimes when just moving up one level becuase the money of courses doubles and I start playing erratically. Anyway first shot didn't go to well when i broke even for a while and then lost 5 in a row. 4 of those were suckouts/coolers TBF but then i tilted the last one off
Anyway grinded back a bit and a bit more at the 15s and managed to scrape my ROI at the 30's back to a fishy -7% from megafish status. Feeling more comfortable now so hoping to keep in going...

Starting to feel firmly entrenched in the 30s camp now. Has taken me about 4 shots, down to the 15s again, grind up, repeat...Biggest change i've noticed is playing a few more regs which is forcing me to develop/adjust better to winning tags/lags at this level and i feel like i'm starting to figure some stuff out. Thats the only difference from the $3.50s for me and going up a few levels. You still get loads of your typical bad players. Anyway aside from a bit of nasty variance i've also been playing pretty bad and doing some pretty suspect stuff i believe just lately, but feel like i'm pulling back around and my game is hopefully getting better then it was:) From a terrible ROI at the 30s its now at about 3%, but hopefully that should keep going up if i just keep playing consistently and avoid doing crazy stuff...
Also been mixing in a few turbos at the 15s and 30s reg speeds and some hyper turbos at the 1.50 level for practice. Might just start playing the $3.50s at those because not sure if they're profitable with the rake...

cheers Dom, makes a lot of sense! One of the hardest things in poker is focus and discipline imo as i'm sure many will agree. Everytime I recover from a downswing i usually start off with a bit of bad variance, which kickstarts a bit of bad play etc and my graph reverses direction. Takes a bit longer after that to work out whats going on!

yeah 4% rake at he 1.50s and 2.8% at the 3.50s....so to beat them my roi would have to be higher then the rake? Not sure what roi is possible at micro stakes, but thanks for the advice - gonna play at the 3.50s then!

Quick update...
Giving up hyper turbos at the moment. Mainly because i want my br to grow and i've hardly been playing reg speeds. These hypers are definitely beatable at the $3,50 level i think and in a weird way you get used to the higher variance pretty quickly when you play so many. I know i could play so much better at these but it brings out the gambler in me. If i get that under control im sure ill improve. Going to stll play a few every now and then. ROI at the 30's now at 12% over 180 games. Thing is my BR is now getting close to the 30 buyins needed for the $60 level. Def going to take some shots soon as soon as i get there...
