'Attempted' obliteration of the BetOnline cash games :D

OK so Dom shipped me a stake last week to play the cash games here, starting at 50nl. After some ongoing depositing problems, finally managed to put the $ on last Thursday.

Was on the brink of getting an actual job when I started the grind up (properly) again. Glad I'm onto this, because it literally is an absolute gold mine at Betonline.

Been running pretty mediocre overall, and also rather terrible at times.

So far, am +$650. Should be at 100nl in the next few days if all goes to plan!!

Will try and update this after each session with the result Smile

been playing all night, ~the last 8 hours with only a few breaks in between.

games were good, I was being sucked out on a ton, as usual. but I did prevail. +6 buyins right there.

would continue playing now cos had some serious deep stack action with a few whales, but their server seems to have gone down; I can't connect whatever I try.

100nl very soon....

OK so managed to reconnect. ended up going +14 BI's for over $700.

would like to continue playing, but need sleep now.

just to update; I did have a terrible first session at 100nl the other night where I basically ran into the nuts every time with the 2nd nuts and all that nice stuff. Came out of it down 5.5 buyins which was pretty ridiculous considering how bad the opposition is at that stake as well.

Just been playing some 50nl this evening attempting to rebuild. won like 7.5 buyins so that's alright.

wasn't running well in races, but made what I thought were some great postflop decisions.

got myself in a bit of a sticky spot playing deep HU where I called a turn c/r with TP+gutty and on the river it was pretty apparent the guy had some flush. did the only thing I could to win the $60 in the pot and bluff shoved 250bb, repping a boat since the board had paired on the river. what was critical to this play was my read that the guy was a competent enough player to recognise how strong the line I took was, and that his flush was unlikely to be good.

So yeh, just happy with that bluff!

I deposited $50 on betonline about eight to ten weeks ago, but haven't played much on the site until yesterday. My current bankroll is $139 and I'm multitabling 6NL.

The software is as horrible as the players. Do you have any suggestions about how to effectively multitable on this site? It's easy to time out, as it's hard to know what table is requiring attention and the time you receive to act upon your hand is so limited.

I live in the U.S. and previously 16 tabled 25NL and 30 tabled SNGs for a living (6 years previous to Black Friday). I will start my own bankroll thread.

Are there any external softwares you know of that can be used in conjunction with betonline? At least a HH convertor and/or win rate tracking software?

ThanX!

I'm only 6 tabling at the moment, as I'm restricted to playing on my Macbook Pro. Not timing out is something you get better at. I was constantly doing it to start with; just not multitasking or speaking to people on skype is probably the best thing to avoid.

The software is horrible, and for me even more so, because on Mac OS X there appears to be some extreme bugs where the software completely freezes up and crashes (colour wheel of death) frequently when you use the player notes facility.

The only tool I'm aware of for use on this site is Hold'em Indicator, which will provide you with a very rudimentary HUD setup.

Both PokerTracker and Hold'em Manager developers are aware of the site and are waiting for the player pool to increase before adding support.

EDIT: which included one table of 100nl, where I was either break even or down like 1/3 buyin :/

It almost makes me laugh when you are talking about big whales at 50NL and the horrible players at 100NL. The 25NL & 50NL games on PokerStars started getting tougher two and half years ago (about the time I started NL cash games).

I spent time over this last summer playing 4NL on Carbon Poker.  I just won some $1 freerolls, so I dabbled on Carbon at the lowest stakes. I couldn't believe how aggro many of those players were for those stakes. I hate to say it, but there are some pretty damn decent players playing 4NL on Carbon.

The "competition" on betonline is unbelievable. I always tell people if I knew back in 1999 what I know now, I would have been playing much higher stakes. Perhaps I will get the chance...
************
Does your "bet amount box" allow you to enter a decimal point for precise betting amounts. Mine doesn't...Brokerstar is actually the only I've heard that says it works. I have chatted with several people on the site and haven't found another person that it works for.

Yeh games on the major sites are certainly very tough nowadays. You're lucky to get one big fish at a table, and then be sat with 4 other regs. I've always been really lazy where table selection is concerned and it's no doubt cost me a lot in the past. It's just great for the time being on BetOnline not having to worry about any of this and sit any table, and be able to instantly be playing at least 3 fish!! In future I will look at playing stars and ipoker games at the higher levels, and just dread how hard it's gonna be to actually produce a reasonable win rate Sad

I can use decimals in making bet sizing decisions! I couldn't before with version one of their software, but since moving to 'BetOnline 2' two to three weeks ago, this problem seems to have been solved.

Really have been going through a tough period lately. Overall I'm 20 buyins down from my peak of about $2100.

Session length (playing too long, losing focus) was possibly an issue, but I've certainly stamped that out this week and began taking breaks. What's happened truly has been utterly ridiculous, and brutal to swallow.

I do admit there were a few sizeable errors around the middle of this downswing, which were certainly inexcusable. But the last 4 sessions I really have been extremely happy with my game and am confident I'm not leaking any EV to these utter fools through misjudgement.

The whole shebang of forms of run bad has been seen; excessive coolers, bad beats, running into the tops of peoples ranges, nut bad cards killing my action, boards consistently running out in dire manners etc etc.

Just gonna soldier on and battle through this, I'm making a ton of money G-bucks wise if only my actual results would 'catch up'. Missing having a monitor and so being able to grind on PC. Also the lack of poker analytical/tracking software is a real bummer because the most important thing about that for me really is post-game analysis and leak finding. I suppose for now I can resort to recording every session and trying to review the next day.

Not being able to use Flopzilla is really pissing me off too, as it was beginning to help me understand ranges to that next level Sad

This post has already been longish, so I shan't extend too long but to say in future I might I include more bloggy type things about life in general so as to help me reflect on my day-to-day existence etc etc.

Peace x

I have recently advanced to 10NL. I tried yesterday to enter a decimal...with SUCCESS. However, I am still unable to use a decimal at the 6NL and 2NL games. VERY puzzling...those are the games you need it the most.

Now, I have a different problem that prevents me from using the decimal and Bet Amount Box: every time I attempt to enter a value, the software goes DINGDING-DINGDING and resets the value. Well, not every time, but very often. Whenever action on other tables arises, it does this, and sometimes even without other tables needing action.

Why are you unable to use Flopzilla? Did you only have a trial version? I purchased CREV (StoxEV) a couple years ago and it was one of the best poker investments I made. I am going to buy Flopzilla pretty soon.

Just played a 3 hour session that was pretty mental if I'm being honest. I think there were a couple of very interesting spots I got into, and buy and large I'm happy with the decisions I made.

Off the top of my head, the only decision I think that was possibly suspect was deciding to fire barrel number 3 after missing my nut flush draw; I got slowrolled by a flopped top two in the end.

Very swingy 3 hours. With only one hour gone I was on the brink of tears at what I was seeing. I was negative 5 buyins, with my entire profit on this site almost completely ruined. Pretty typical occurrences tbh; with a notable early hand being the time I 4b AKo, cbet the flop small on a J high board, turned my Ace only to have villain stack off with his 88 and  then miraculously bink his 2 outer on the river. 240bb pot to the champion in seat no. 3, gg.

I started screen capping soon after this, and did so for the remaining 100 mins of my session. Now came the boostage! I overcame my 5 buyin early losses and continued until I finished up almost 4 buyins for the session Very Happy

I finished at 2:30am to attempt an early night. My sleeping patterns/waking hours have increasingly got rather antisocial and become a total drain on my energy levels :/ I recognise the importance of routine and structure in one's life, and so in the following week I shall make efforts to start living a more 'normal' life again; less all nighters, more fresh air, less social isolation, more exercise. Crushing, or at least reasonably profiting from, this site is a real must at this time. One of the first things on my shopping list when I'm able to cashout is a renewal of my Fitness First gym membership! Seriously missed being able to pump iron recently ;..(

Gonna try and watch at least one poker video a day from now on. I have literally thousands of items of poker training content, and hardly ever diligently manage to go through entire series/books etc.

GL in your games LADs. Peace

2 nights ago I won 3 buyins, last night I won 2.5 buyins. Nothing major, just having to put up with it all atm.

Gonna play early this evening, and not for long; I need to get to bed by around midnight for a 5am rise as I gotta get a bus up to London.

Overall profit on stake is $800. 37 buyins only counting 50nl though.

Played last night for the first proper time since Monday. After having a super bad start, made 4.5 buyins. So far gonna get a $400 cashout next week which is gonna be a life saver. Just a shame I've ran so bad both times at 100nl, because not counting that I'm up almost $2000 at 50nl since the stake began :/

Will be playing 100nl on Monday Smile

Just been trying out the PokerStars Mobile App on my iPad Smile

Won 10 buyins at 25nl in 2 hours!! I ran fairly decent, but it's fair to say the games at that stake on stars are not particularly hard.

Love the software, was able to play 5 tables and just felt incredibly comfortable grinding those out. My only criticism is there is no auto-topup feature at the moment. I'm also unsure of whether bonuses are still tracked, as there's nothing on the app about any VPPs etc.

Some preset bet buttons relative to pot would be nice too Razz

Alright lads, yeah lack of updates recently- my bad.

I haven't played for the last two nights, I struggle to carry on grinding BOL considering what's gone down. 100nl shots have been quite the piss take. I'm in 5.5 buyins makeup for that stake this month. This seriously is the worst stretch of run bad I've ever encountered, and that's with having put in half a million hands altogether last year.

Is jokes cos I keep having to grind up several buyins at 50nl, then as soon as I take it to 100nl will encounter some ridic results. Total 50nl profits on this site now exceed 50 buyins, meaning 100nl I'm down almost 20 buyins. There's no way in hell I have anywhere near a -ve winrate at the stake, given the level of competition; there's no noticeable skill increase in the player pool going from 50nl to 100nl. Whereas in the past on downswings I've felt a bit ashamed and displeased with my play, I really am 100% confident with the vast vast majority of my play recently.

Nothing's standing out in my mind as anywhere near spew (my bluffing frequencies are very low here and it's not like I'm ever gonna commit large amounts even when I do) or loose, and there's been a complete lack of tilt. The line's I've employed in numerous spots have optimally exploited these clowns' tendencies only to get consistently sucked out on, never mind holding 80-99.5% equity almost always. Have value bet sufficiently thinly, and recall very few times where I've ended up value-cutting myself.

I'll have to speak to Brokerstar about where to proceed from here. He is dissatisfied with my results of late, which I can understand. But I adamantly contend any suggestion that the recent stretch has been due to bad play or making repeatedly significant errors.

I'm actually rolled for 100nl on Stars, so have been weighing up the pros of cons of whether concentrating on playing there soon would be overall better. I would be playing on my own money , and able to play as many as 16-18 tables. With mediocre average volume I'd easily reach Supernova by May. And while the games obv aren't as soft as BOL, they're still very beatable imo. Over all stakes I'm still managing 7ptbb/100; I could live with well under half of this.

The real pain is that with the money I have on Stars, I'm tempted to put it towards a David LLoyd membership so that I'd be regularly back in the gym, pool and on the tennis courts. This, and the fact I still need a new PC monitor, means I'm having to weigh up the best decision for me personally; financially, lifestyle-wise and poker career-wise.

Alright, I will play some more 50nl on BOL later and see what can result. GL in your games.

@BetMagicMoney busy or not, could you spare 5 mins for skype every now and then? Very Happy even a turbo-chinwag if need be. be good.

/essay concluded.
