Hey guys.

This is a thread for everyone to post their 2012 goals and regularly update throughout the year, and the Stars guys to update their VPP's. Anyone who can should go for Supernova, because in future years when you're playing higher, it's a lot more valuable to have supernova status already acheived.

Here's my personal goals:


[] Move to 200s
This goal shouldn't be too difficult. If I keep studying regularly, once I get enough games under my belt and sessions with PHMERC, I should be right to move up, hopefully in late February or early March.
[] Move to 300s
This will be more difficult than 200s for sure. My volume will be limited in 2012 due to school, but PHMERC and I are confident I will reach this goal, but 500s will be almost impossible.

[] $30,000 profit
These profit goals are including RB and bonuses. I expect to make Supernova relatively easily, which will net me ~$5k. I wouldn't be unhappy making 30k, but I think I can make more.
[] $40,000 profit
[] $50,000 profit
This is the ceiling, and would take a lot of hard work. I am doubtful I will hit the 50k mark, in fact 40k would exceed my expectations, but I'd rather set the bar high.

[] 100k VPP's
Ez game if I'm at $100+
[] 200k VPP's
This will be harder. If I'm grinding 200-300 a lot, it will most likely happen, but most of my 2012 volume will be played at $60s and 100s, which will make this impossible most likely. I am definitely going for 200k though, near the end of the year I might make a blog post asking for people to 2-4 table me for VPP's, we'll see.

[] Start staking and/or coaching
Coaching is something I've wanted to get in to, and hopefully 2012 I can begin. I do lots of sweats and HH reviews with people around the same stakes, and I enjoy it so much, and I think I will definitely be qualified to coach <$100 guys in a few months time.

[] Buy a car from poker winnings
I've had my licence for a while now but haven't had the money to buy a car, so hopefully around mid 2012 I'll have saved up enough money to buy something.

Nice thread mate , im currently playing 6max nl10 and by the end of 2012 i hope to be an nl50 reg !

I think this is a realistic goal given i dont play a huge volume and still only a slight winner at nl10 at the moment.

Once i hit nl20 (hopefully around march/april time) and making a better profit i may invest in some coaching aswell.

Hope we all run well in 2012 and all crush the shit out of online poker !

You should run some math regarding expected winrates and stuff to see how much you could make etc.

i've no idea what i want next year. i think now is the time to really start pushing myself. ive felt the pain of big downswings and wouldnt mind pushing myself taking shots/battles and failing. i definitely see myself attempting to branch out from husng's and mixing in some mid stakes cash and working on some mtt strat.
In terms of $$ i have no goal really. as long as ive got a bankroll i'm happy

I don't think I will ever have the right stuff to become a poker pro unless I deal with a whole lot of life issues. So, my 2012 goal is to seek help for working on those.

I think I have settled in enough at the husng to make some worthwhile $$$
in the coming year

it would be nice to have some take home money from playing

so my goals is to play 10  husng per day


my win rate is 56% and improving

also i will study everyone of hokie gregs vid i have on my hard drive

and may be later in the year look at some paid coaching,  money is tight now until june

my other goals are to get every one of my cash game levels into +

That would still be focusing on daily results, which is a waste of thought.

Look at it like this: Imagine you were only going to play one session, let's say of 100 games in a row, and never play poker again, would you care about winning 5 or 6 of every 10-game milestone? No. You just want to play optimally so that you profit as much as you can over the entire 100 games.
Now replace "100-game session" with "the rest of your life" and stop thinking about short-term results.

But if you set your goal as playing those 20 games/day regardless of how many wins, then that's the right way to approach it. And you should always go and review your games at some point even if you won a lot, just to see if it was a lot of lucky spots or you were starting to plug leaks.

I've literally wound everything down play time wise and studied the game a little and enjoyed Christmas so that tomorrow I can hit the ground running and push on to what I wanna do.

I played the 50s at FTP/Stars and cashed out my roll before it went tits up and then played low for a while. In 2012 I'm starting at the $3.50s (already built a roll from $50 playing the $1.50s) and I think I should be at the $100+ by this time next year. It's probable I could be at the $200s if I push myself.

That's what I think I can do and that's what I'm gonna do.

Long time reader but have been very quiet on the forums. After building up my roll on Ongame to over $2K on 6-max cash games and withdrawing, my goals for 2012 are:

[] Start with $400 BR on Merge network playing a mixture of 10NL/25NL
[] Make +$5k for the year
[] Be more active on the forums
[] Think about hands more/take more time over decisions
[] Start a BR building thread and update weekly
[] Move from Perth, Australia to Toronto, Canada midyear with my Canadian fiancee
[] Also to achieve a higher fitness level and stop being lazy
