Using Polycarpus' thread I have made a set of both long and short term goals for myself for the coming months.
May exams finish around the end of May, so my long term goals are set for that date, then I will be re-evaluating because I'll have more time to dedicate to poker. I will assess, and add next months goals at the end of each month.
Short Term Goals
70 – 80 Hours of Play and Study for January
Equivalent to 18-20 hours a week, meaning 2.5 hours a day. 4.5 hours a week of this play time must be time spent studying and/or reviewing.
Reach $10 Games by February 15th
I start taking shots at 15BI and move up fully at 20BI. Must have 20BI by 15th February.
Reach and attain at Least 7% ROI% by the end of February Onwards
Speaks for itself.
Long Term Goals
Exams end on 30th May, so goals will change from there on out due to more time being available to dedicate to poker.
$2k profits before 30th May
May re-assess this goal as the months go by depending on how future short-term goals go.
Reach $30 Games by 30th May
Speaks for itself.
My goals are not extravagant, but I am only at the beginning of my HUSNG adventure and so for now I believe they are attainable for me.

Helllo everyone.
This is the first time I'll be posting my goals, and since I have little notion of whats challenging but realistic, I'd love to hear a little how you guys do yours.
I'll be playing $2 SNGHU for awhile, but I'd like to move up to the $5's this month, as I'm 2/3's there. Also, I figure a 10% ROI is alright for a newcomer, but I'm not sure.
Thanks for the attention.
Take care and GL at the tables.

Any positive win rate is good for a new comer. I'd say just work out how many games you can realistically play a day say 5 days a week and then stick to it. Don't make goals too hard just realistic and you'll be amazed how much more you get done than most.
Don't set goals like money or win rate at first as this can be extremely tilting when it's something you don't have complete control over. What you do have control over is how many games you play, how many hard games you review and your emotions and that is enough get help you do well.
Good luck

[ ] Finish the lessons.

I'm not just posting this cos it was my thread, I really think it may be of some help to you http://tagpoker.myfastforum.org/about2311.html
What BrokerStar said is actually in there, in my own words. Actually I really should stop giving advice and start practicing what I preach, but I would forget the 10% ROI , it's okay to have it in there, but don't get to disheartened if you don't make it. If you make 1% then you are better than most the players you are playing.
Reviewing games is good, but don't just do it randomly, you will keep putting it off, and not get done what you want. I don't think 10 games is enough for someone who is trying to learn the ropes. I'm not sure if that was a week, month , or year though. I recommend doing a session review each and every time you play. Play one less game if you don't have time. Either do it before or after a session. Personally I think before is better, because it gets you focused on playing poker, where as after a session, you are done, and your mind is going to be on other things.
I love your post by the way, in case any of my post sounded negative, it's not. Having a plan will always put you one step ahead of those who just load up a table and play a few cards when they feel like it.
Good Luck.

How are you doing Blazing?
Let start of thanking you for your input. You're post did not sound negative, in fact I really appreciate it. Unless proven otherwise, I'll continue to assume that what I read hear is meant to help. Besides, if I assume that I know it all, I'm not really going to learn much, am I? So again, thanks. Truly.
Funny thing, I had already read your post, in fact you have even replied to my comment on your post, and I based my goal setting on it. The things that I am unsure about I guess I'll see with experience.
As for the ROI, to be honest I'm not to worried about it at this moment. I'm not too worried because I have a 77% ROI w/13 games. I know that sample size is too small and I am (obviously) expecting it to decrease significantly, but still, I think that if I get below 10% in a month having this head start I'd really have to think about it.
Since I've started studying through this site I had a huge leap, and more importantly, I'm really enjoying the game. As long as this is true, I don't think I'll get much problem. As long as I'm enjoying myself I think I'll keep working on my game and improving it.
As for the games to review, I meant 10 a month, 120 a year. I have in fact been trying to review all my games, at least all my sessions. That as been helping quite alot, and its quite a humbling experience. It's amazing how you may feel that you're dominating and everything work your way, then just reviewing your game and finding loads of leaks and lots of less than optimal lines. Still, you feel that reviewing 10% of the games a month isn't an ambitious goal? What do you suggest?
Again, thank you very much for your feedback, and I'm looking forward to read more from you.
Take care,
D.

Sorry, I didn't remember your name from the thread, must apologise.
As I said in my thread, all the information that you need to beat the micro stakes is definitely on this site for free. In fact the information to beat higher stakes is there too, you just have to work a bit harder at it.
Do the course with Dom, will help you no end. Ask questions , no matter how silly you think they are. Dom isn't going to laugh at you , I can assure you that. He really does want all of his students to succeed.
Anyway, the fact you are taking the time to read advice, and all the rest of it, you will be crushing with in no time for sure.

Thanks for the help.
