So, after doing some studying, I've got a few questions. It would be great if someone could clarify some things for me. Now, The questions are probably kindergarden-stuff and most winning players should be able to help.

1) I was adviced to limp "not that good" hands occasionally (vs. calling stations and vs. maniacs), but I don't quite understand which hands are meant. Lets say for example, I hold 85o. This hand is certainly not that good, so I guess it would be possible to limp. But it also doesn't really flop that great, so raising or folding would be better, right?
Now lets take 56s. This hand isn't that great either, so it should be possible to limp with it. But it also can flop quite nicely, so raising would be better in order to have a bigger pot in case i flop something big...
I hope you understand my dilemma.

2) I also have some problems playing against callingstations who limp almost every hand preflop. Raising with my string hands and checking with really weak hands is easy, but how should I play medium strengh hands? Should I raise in order to punsh villain for limping and make him pay for limping too much or should I check behind, since he is probably going to call anyway and hope to flop something big?

3) My third question is regarding small pocketpairs. If I have the button and my hand is 55, it's obviously a raise, but how do I react to a 3-bet? I understand that in cash-ringgames, I can call for setvalue and that I can expect to play big pots, because a reraise means a stong hand. In HU, a reraise doesn't always mean a strong hand and also stacksizes are not that deep (75bb max). Is calling for setvalue still profitable or are small pocketpairs a easy fold after a reraise?

That's it for now. I hope my writing is understandable.^^
Thanks a lot in advance for any answers.

1. Against stations we can limp most of our range except our value hands + the odd suited connector mixed in for deception. Vs LAG's we don't want to be limping trash, because they'll attack frequently. We only want to limp hands we'll call a re raise with, or 3bet with.

2. Just raise a value range, check back middling hands and look to flop top pair and bet bet bet.

3. This one's very situational dependant. ATM I'm trying to work out the odds behind 'setmining', apparently you're 11% to hit a set OTF, so I'd image you'd need about 15-20x the bet behind to call. However, if villain is 3betting >20%, these hands can be a shove if he's got a relatively tight calling range, you just need to play around with some equity calculations for each individual situation.

on question 1

58 is a crap hand and you can just fold it

it is not recommended anywhere in the course to play this hand

suited connector are playable when you have 30 bb and more

below that you want to be thinking about your money a bit and whether he is letting you limp in or not

question 2
calling stations  if you get a player that wont fold any pair
you  must wait for good flops for you ie top pair or 2 pair  and bet each street
if you have Ak and miss the flop do not try to push the call stn off his hand it wont work and he will call with 33 all the way even when you pot bet  the river so make sure you have the best hand  it is just about playing cards not poker

question 3

when 3 bet try and think how often he has 3 bet  you

the more often he 3 bets then the less likely he has a hand

22 + has about 50% equity by showdown so you can 4 bet if deep stacked  or shove if short stacked

but if your intention is to rasie fold dont play them for a raise just limp and set mine this is ok untill about 40 bb  then you might be thinkiing more of getting your opponent to fold by raising preflop

Question 2: i might start raising a few hands like j10, q10 etc to his limps just to build the pot a bit when you're likely ahead of his range. Also guys I'm pretty sure you can value bet against call stations pretty thinly. No need to only value bet top pair especially if they're passive...

Don't openfold 58 on your button unless your opponent is 3betting regularly (if your opponent plays <50% of his hands from the BB, regardless of how he plays them, it's profitable to raise ATC). If he's flatting wide and not giving us trouble postflop, open it too, but if he's cbetting/check-raising tons of flops/donking out or generally making life difficult, the I can find a fold. Otherwsie, we want to raise our button liberally (or limp it if you're a nit like Broker and his army of students Very Happy)

Lots of reasons why you can limp imo. Sometimes when effective stacks get low and the small stack is more likely to shove over my minraise I'll start limping a few hands and min raising stronger/GII hands. Also if someone is 3 betting me a lot you can open up a 4 bet range or start limping in a few hands like 58 if they're not raising your limps and then when you min raise that makes this range appear stronger so they're less likely to 3 bet you. I pretty much min raise 70%+ hands as default. I still limp most of the match against big fish though sometimes and would definitely limp 58 if I was limping...
