What's up, my name is Alex but people end up calling me Sandy online cuz of my screen name. Anyway... I want to work my way up through the stakes and eventually be able to grind as a part-time job, and possibly more in the far future but that can wait til later. I've got a week and a half left at my summer job, a week and a half trip back home to Ontario (I'm in BC, Canada right now), then school starts September 7th. I'm taking a 2-year diploma called CSOM (Computer Systems Operation and Management) and I have 2.5 semesters left (this semester will only be 3 courses).

So I want to build up my roll and my skills - I've been away from poker a long time Sad - and I'm going to work my way up the 6-max cash ladder. I have $196 still sitting on Carbon Poker from when I signed up for the cash school here, but just didn't start playing for whatever reason.

I'm going to start at NL10 tomorrow, play at that level through August, then take advantage of the 75% August reload bonus on Carbon by depositing $300 on Aug 31 and move up to NL25.

I'm going to start with some reachable goals to motivate me.

Week 1
[x] Buy HEM
[x] Start my journey with a 1-hour 4-table session on Monday
[] Play 2k hands

I'm only going to write weekly goals so that I don't get overwhelmed and can focus on each step as I go.

Cool, added ya, siminitt.  Smile

First session went ok, I'm VERY rusty... made a dumb call right near the end...

Merge Network $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em - 5 players - View hand 1409341
DeucesCracked Poker Videos Hand History Converter

BB: $18.82
UTG: $10.95
CO: $10.43
Hero (BTN): $13.81
SB: $4.02

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is BTN with K A
1 fold, CO raises to $0.30, Hero raises to $0.90, 2 folds, CO raises to $2.70, Hero calls $1.80

Flop: ($5.55) 5 Q K (2 players)
CO checks, Hero bets $2.00, CO calls $2

Turn: ($9.55) 9 (2 players)
CO checks, Hero checks

River: ($9.55) 4 (2 players)
CO bets $5.73 all in, Hero calls $5.73

Final Pot: $21.01
CO shows Q Q (Three of a Kind Queens)
Hero shows K A
CO wins $19.96
(Rake: $1.05)

I was telling myself as soon as he flatted the flop "uhh yeah this is a QQ trap, what else would he 4bet PF then flat flop with" ... but I still clicked call?? Leak #1 found.... Razz

And my wee lil' graph

Overall I'm just glad I stuck to my goal and got over the first little hurdle.

Good luck mate, I'm not a cash player but i've played atlittle and would like to improve my cash games skills.

Just wondering how other players would have played this hand?? I personally would have called pre flop (but i think at this level they're always gonna show QQ+ AQ+ when they 4 bet PF). Once hit that flop i'd have bet flop/turn then evaluate the river.. Thoughts?

id get it all in preflop those donkeys can 4bet with 73o.  and just take the flip if your against a pocket pair. your good against AJ - AQ flipping with pocket pairs (obviously not with AA) but still. maybe im just a NL donkey Smile

Just shove preflop - think it is a bad play to flat with a 4bet here we have blockers to aces and kings which reducde the odds that we are dominated and at worst were flipping at best hes a tard and has done it with AJ etc

See, I knew that before when I used to play. This is gonna be rough re-learning poker Sad

Haven't played more than that first session, still working full time and got other things to do... figuring I will play an hour tonight or tomorrow then the rest on Sunday.
