Hi all,

3 weeks ago I signed up to brokerstars free HU course by joining william hill poker.  I have been playing poker since 2007 but always concentrated on MTT.  I had a few nice results in 2007 and 2010 but have been on a bad run for the last year or so.  i decided to try my hand at Hu and have been studying the course.  So far I have played 200 turbo Hu games but my results are very discouraging.  I had a win rate of 59% for the first 50 games, so things were looking good.  However by the 100 game mark my win rate was down to 55%.  Now after exactly 200 games it has just dipped to the lowest ever (52.5% ) and my roi and profit are exactl $0.00!!!  I used to be a TAG player but then changed to a LAG style.  Since starting the course I have followed brokerstars strategy and am adapting well to different player types.  I hardly ever go on tilt any more  and know 100% that there are some players that I have played, who I could read like a book.  The problem is that I have had a number of situations where the blinds are high and I end up all in as a 60-70% favourite and continually lose.  This has been happening against the weaker players, while I have been beating the better players.  This shows in my last 7 games (193-200).  My win rate was only at 54% but in those last 7 games I played 4 complete fish and lost, one average player and won, and two good players - winning one of those.  So I only won 2 out of 7, which put my profit at $0.00.  It seems as thougn the more I practice and learn, the worse my results are getting.  Is there any light at the end of the tunnel or am I just useless and missing something major???

not sure what to say about variance as it is my online enemy as well... but here is an eye opening post by one of our best players/mentors here on the site.

Hello mate.

A lot of people hugely underestimate variance and at times it can be really testing and brutal.

The better you understand it and the bigger your bankroll, the more capable you should be at dealing with tilt too which is what cripples many a player.
