Happy 2nd Birthday Tagpoker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday was Tagpokers official second birthday, how do know this? Well the domain name was bought for two years and it expired yesterday and for some reason never auto renewed! This resulted in me no longer owning Tagpoker and the site vanishing from the net. Safe to say I felt a little sick at the idea of someone else buying up the name after all the work that has gone into it.

Luckily I managed to re buy the name and reactivate it. After a lot of investigating I noticed that my reminders to renew ended up in my junk mail inbox but I still don't understand why the site name still didn't renew automatically?

Anyway all is well that ends well.

So this little project is two years old. For those of you that don't know the story of the site, it originally started as a basic site with a few videos to help my friends play better. They were always asking me to teach them and so I thought a selection of videos would take care of that without having to spend time teaching all of my friends.

I never had a clue about creating a website so I bought a book called HTML for dummies and learnt some basic HTML codes to create some simple pages. The site has dramatically changed it's look twice in the last two years and is constantly being added to and tinkered with.

I remember the day well when I had 100 visits in a month that were not all from the UK, I remember showing my girlfriend and thinking wow people from the USA and Australia check out my site? Awesome. Now days Tagpoker gets closer to 10,000 visits a month from all over the world and is growing every day. When I see people from places like Peru turning up, it really still blows my mind.

It was only after having Tagpoker for a year that I decided to create a forum so that I could get to know some of my repeat visitors. It was at this point that a very small but really cool community started to form. Back when there were like 11 members I remember having nights (about this time last year) when half of us would sit up all night, laughing and joking (I was my usual professional self and normally working through a bottle of wine) on Skype whilst sweating Borg as he crushed anyone he decided to play.

What I noticed the most that made this place different from every other poker forum was the feeling of us all being in this together. On sites like 2+2 I respected the fact that there were a lot of good players but hated the amount of cocks that liked to mock your efforts. After reading one 'in before downswing' too many I decided to focus my attentions here much more and try to develop the first ever poker forum where the vibe was friendly and no one felt silly to post even the simplest of questions.

I'm so very proud of what the site has turned into and I believe this is the very best learning environment online and in the world for this format of the game and as much as I'd like to take the credit for it all, I can't because it's been some very amazing members that have really made Tagpoker what it is today.

So to all of you that continue to help each other, be friendly and help your fellow team mates, to everyone that has shared the ups and downs of their own story for the rest of us to follow, organised Tagpoker shootouts, made guest videos and so much more, I'd like to just say thank you.

I love this site and I love seeing many of you transform right before my very eyes.

OK sentimental post over. Now get back out there and kick some ass, I wanna see graphs people, lots and lots of winning graphs!

awesome dom! congrats on Tagpoker. Another month and a half and I will have been here for one year, and in that year i have learned more here, than I have in 5 years of playing .
